Stay Safe: Using Uber For Ramadan Night Meals

Throughout Ramadan, many eateries have extended their opening hours to serve meals until late at night. Here, we're spotlighting three recommended venues to visit this month after the sun sets - first, for the breaking of fast, followed by coffee & desserts, & finally, supper!

Uber is one of the best ways to stay safe while travelling around at night. Uber drivers continue plying the streets even past midnight, & they'll pick you up at the entrance of eateries, malls & other buildings. Rides are GPS-tracked, so you can share the status of your trip with your loved ones for them to pinpoint your exact location at all times & track the entire progress of your journey from restaurant to home.

As a bonus, Uber is now offering FREE rides (worth up to RM30 per ride) to and from all the following three restaurants & cafes. All Eat Drink KL readers, including existing Uber users, can apply the following exclusive promotional codes on Uber to enjoy the free rides at any time, from now until July 18!

Two free rides to & from LOKL Coffee Co at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee: EDKLLOKL
Two free rides to & from Sevencups in Empire Damansara: EDKLSEVENCUPS
Two free rides to & from Boat Noodle (in Publika only): EDKLBOATNOODLE

Please remember to key in the restaurant name (such as Sevencups) as your starting point or destination for the free rides to take effect. Note that LOKL is closed for Raya on July 17-20.

Plus, you can use the Eat Drink KL mobile app at all these three outlets to enjoy a 6 percent discount off your bill. Stay safe throughout Ramadan, & save money on both your travelling & your food expenses.

LOKL at Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, near KL's Chinatown & Dang Wangi areas, usually doesn't stay open after dusk, but for Ramadan, this charming outlet is serving Buka Puasa meals until 9 p.m. Check out the Chicken Shawarma, a crowd favourite available only for this month, plus other weekly specials made with love!
Two free Uber rides to & from LOKL Coffee Co: EDKLLOKL (worth up to RM30 per ride)

For all the owls out there, it's time to indulge in some night-time caffeine & dessert! Sevencups at Empire Damansara recently began extending its business hours to 11pm on Mon, as well as Wed-Sat, & 8pm on Sun. It's the perfect retreat for coffee & conversation, plus home-baked cakes & artisanal ice cream!

KL's pioneering purveyor of Thai-inspired boat noodles is also remaining open later that usual for Ramadan - its popular branch in Publika (Solaris Dutamas) will continue serving until 12am, midnight, everyday for a supper of chicken or beef boat noodles, plus other new items like 'Thai Popeye's Tempura,' bread with kitchen-made kaya, & refreshing ice-blended Thai tea!

  2. wow so many free rides!

    1. Ken: hopefully you'll have some in Penang soon too :)

  3. Sounds fantastic Sean! I've havent been to LOKL so this would be incentive fr me to step in! :D SevenCups calls fr a revisit & well, would u believe it, I haven't tried Boat Noodles yet!

    1. Rebecca: yay! it looks like all three outlets have something to offer you ... yeah, parking near LOKL is slightly tricky at certain hours, so Uber could help with that. and of course, this is a good way to avoid parking charges at Empire Damansara & Publika :)

  4. We have something here in Quebec around Christmas time and into the New Year, it is called "Nez Rouge", which is French for "Red Nose". It was named after Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer. It is a large group of volunteers who offer their time and free rides to people who have gone to a party and drunk alcohol. This was done to lessen the amount of drinking and driving. Great post, Sean! :)

    1. Linda: that sounds like a fantastic movement for the season ... i loved hearing about it, so thanks for sharing! :)
