Connoisseurs @ KLGCC

The Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club has no lack of fine-dining venues, but Connoisseurs might be the best bet for corporate events & celebrations.

This sprawling outlet features a cigar lounge with sofas in which we'd easily lose ourselves ...

... plus an alfresco area that might serve as a vantage point for the leafy surroundings.

Connoisseurs' menu is wide, with something for many budgets _ RM38++ spaghetti set lunches to RM1,888 live Alaskan king crabs that weigh a whopping four kilograms.

Anchovies & melted cheese on thick French loaf bread. Savory simplicity.

So many clams, of the Venus variety, brimming in creamy chowder.

Risotto, pretty well-prepared, with cherry tomatoes, olive oil & chili, topped with alarmingly phallic Dutch white asparagus.

Aussie Angus Sturt Ridge Shiraz & Poetic Justice Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.

Gin & Sin, a martini with grenadine & orange & lemon juices.

But what really knocks us out here: boozy hot chocolate, creamy & flavorsome, laced with the likes of Bailey's (our recommendation), kahlua or Jameson's whiskey.

Water isn't free here, so be ready to fork out for still or sparkling.

  1. Wow!!! I absolutely love the decor here from the tables to the chairs...to the curtains! It reminds me of the Victoria era, which I really love!(referring to the first two photos). The hot chocolate looks so good! The risotto looks very appetizing. Fantastic post, Sean! Thank you so much for sharing.

  6. All i need is a cigar to complete the feel with my whisky on the other hand!

Gosh the clam chowder sure does look clammy and satisfying! I love the lethal hot chocolate concoction too :p i would never have thought of mixing hot chocolate with baileys, although i have it all the time with coffee.

    1. Mich: heh, yeah, this place works well for cigar and whisky lovers (unfortunately, i'm not a fan of both) :D clammy chowder indeed, we definitely ate to our heart's content. i usually only have baileys in cocktails, but it sounds like i should definitely experiment with baileys and coffee =)

  7. I guess it's the season for white asparagus. Seems to be all around the city. Can't see myself ever (!) paying close to RM2000 for a meal - even if it has traveled all the way from Alaska. :-)
