Checking out a couple of cafes, starting with Mont Kiara's Pipers, a nice neighborhood hangout for casual lunches & leisurely dinners.
Pipers' luscious layers: hand-picked crab meat, chopped avocados, tomatoes & roe-topped cream combine for flavorsome comfort cuisine.
Wild mushrooms with crispy noodles & mizuna leaves. Meat-free but nonetheless satisfying.
Asparagus risotto with a welcome surprise: crunchy battered spears & onion rings.
Wine & cocktails are available to accompany Pipers' well-prepared nourishment.
Note: Pipers replaced what was formerly Mont Kiara's Savory Bistro. It's also a performance arts venue, sometimes hosting classical music recitals & open-mic gigs.

Next up, La Taverna, tucked away somewhere off ... the Sprint highway? Or is it Kayu Ara? Damansara Jaya? Bandar Utama?
Tapas are among La Taverna's attractions. Asparagus & scrambled eggs with beef bacon might be something found in a workman's eatery on a Madrid backstreet.
For the carnivore: Beef, marinated in balsamic vinegar, braised in red wine.
La Taverna's lamb cheeseburger boasts a house-made 100-gram patty. Request a runny egg.
Cocktails & wine are all available at La Taverna too.

Oops...I almost tot d roe-topped cream was a roe-topped sunny side-up egg...hehe =)
ReplyDeleteOoo...juicy lamb burger to be had at the tavern with a mysterious location...*detective mode on* :p
Ulric: haha, now that you mention it, that thick layer of cream does look somewhat eggy :D beef burger and chicken burger also got here. Though I think they're all more of the "ordinary burger" varieties, heh =)
DeleteI would just say 10 Boulevard off Sprint Highway. BU is too far to be associated, while DJ is the neighbour! Any chance they can double that 100gm patty? :D
ReplyDeleteDrops of contentment: heh, I think you're absolutely accurate there, thanks :D and yeah, they're pretty obliging here at la taverna. A double patty, an extra egg, all that shouldn't be a problem =)
DeleteThe decor is very nice...and I like the art on the walls; bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteThe asparagus and scrambled eggs with beef bacon sounds like something I would enjoy!!! The lamb cheeseburger sounds fascinating!
Linda: oh yeah, it's always cool to spot some interesting artwork on the walls. paintings can enliven a restaurant! :D the scrambled eggs could have been creamier for me, but i think they were acceptable! :D
DeleteWhich one should I go fist? Hmmmm I think I will visit Pipers for first, to try their lunch, hehe.
ReplyDeleteCK: heh, i think i prefer Pipers, cos of the more convenient location for me (and free parking in that building, heheh) :D
Deletehw much is that lamb burger? :)
ReplyDeleteTNG: heh, good question, but i'm afraid i can't remember! :D
DeleteSaw La Tarvena earlier this month, when I had lunch with Mama Carrie and our acquaintance at the restaurant next door. My guess? It's 10 Boulevard, situated near the toll house. =D
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the beef having a sweet and sour/salty taste, after being marinated in balsamic vinegar and seeing that red wines are usually sweet. =)
Waverly: hahah, yes, it's dangerously close to a toll plaza that'll steal our cash :D mmm, yeah, i think your description for the beef sounds pretty accurate. maybe 60 percent salty, 20 sweet and 20 sour =)
DeleteLots of comfort food in this post! Am eyeing the risotto and the lamb cheese burger but 100g seems a tad tiny!
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: yeah, i couldn't resist ordering the risotto, and it was a pleasant surprise when it was served not only with chopped asparagus inside but also full spears of battered asparagus and pretty good onion rings! :D yeah, you're right, i think the lamb patty could have been increased by 50 percent in size for a meatier bite! :D
DeletePipers' luscious layers looks exactly like something I'm craving right now. The braised beef looks pretty good too.
ReplyDeleteThe Yum List: yeah, every bite of those layers of fresh crab and avocado and cream were quite indulgent! but for red meat lovers, i guess they'd prefer the beef, heh :D
DeleteI am drooling over those .
ReplyDeleteCquek: I hope you'll be enjoying a good dinner soon =)
Deletewell, that's was a great hangout~ feel so hungry again~ =(
ReplyDeleteMr lonely: yeah, a relaxin place to chill out =)
DeleteHi Sean. May I know is La Taverna is still in operation? Your contact no. 773301151 is not in service. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you. Em.
ReplyDeleteEm: am so sorry, i can't be of any help. i haven't returned to la taverna since last year, and i don't know whether they're still operating.
