Amelio @ Desa Parkcity

A popular eatery with an alfresco terrace that overlooks a leafy playground, Amelio will likely please fans of well-prepared porky Western fare.

Pasta rarely gets heartier than this heap of hot spaghetti, showered with crisp mizuna leaves & savory, succulent pork sausages in gently tangy tomato cream. No problem finishing this one.

"Unbleached flour," "freshly made dough" & "stone oven" are phrases that explain why Amelio's pizzas are crisp, light & taste healthy. Vast varieties are available in personal & large servings (take that, Domino's!). This has roast pork shoulder strips, streaky bacon, cherry tomatoes, three cheeses, basil & oregano in plum tomato sauce.

Amelio's range of breakfast sets is also sweeping. For something basic, the baked eggs _ somewhat runnier than expected _ with bacon & bread might brighten the mood of the hungry. Prices should also raise a smile, since a nice lunch can be had for RM30 or less.

Not everything here contains pork, though only curmudgeons would complain about Amelio's French toast, simple but satisfactory, paired with a mushroom-filled omelet, fluffy & flavorsome.

Fudge-topped gelato is also available, assisting us to cool down on a hot, humid afternoon. Prepare to battle for tables indoors during peak hours, since everybody enjoys air-conditioning.

Heaven be praised, Amelio serves wine by the glass & the bottle at wallet-friendly rates.

Chardonnay & iced chocolate with marshmallows.

Hot latte for the evil teetotaler twins.

  1. Ooh would love to try the spaghetti... if it didn't contain pork hehe. What's the deal with Domino's? Hehe

The ice cream looks pretty appealing to me. Hmmm this time I'm not super drooling because I had late dinner hehehehe

    1. Rad: domino's has disappointed me too often! it's now the pizza I'd order only if I'm trapped in the office & starving (though actually, I'd probably order from pizza hut instead) =)

  2. They sure do offer generous servings of sausage on their pasta.

    1. Ulric: the pork shoulder is more obvious, since it's thick & meaty, whereas the bacon adds some savoriness, but this is one of those pizzas that's lightly topped & not overloaded, so it won't feel too tomatoey, too cheesy, too salty or too anything =)

  4. Hooray for the pork (for us) and the wine (for you). Pity it doesn't really have a lakeside view though the sight of all those young men walking their dogs in the nearby park more than redeemed the situation.

And the French toast was indeed simple and good. :)

P.S. The evil teetotaler twins? Them are fighting words, boy! :P

    1. And because of the rain, we can't go out and take some photos beside the lake......

    2. Kenny: and we graciously granted you the seat with the best view of the nubile ones (though whether you were ogling the young men or the dogs was unclear). have some wine next time & you'll be the good guzzling kindred spirits! :P
CK: oooh, could still have gone out beside the lake with an umbrella! after all, it was hujan renyai-renyai, bukan ribut petir :D

    3. Did I have the best seat? Well, I probably did have the best view since I was the only one not busy taking pics... *stares at ck and sean*

    4. Kenny: ooo, i'll interpret that as you saying you had the best view since you had us to stare at :D

    1. Iamthewitch: heheh, blogspot seems to be playing with fonts nowadays, even though i don't actually want to change my font! and since i'm a techno-idiot, i have no idea how to fix it, heh :D and yeah, i wouldn't mind going to desa parkcity more often, but on weekdays, the traffic at the toll plaza heading to kepong sometimes seems so jammed! :D

  11. wanted to try this place but we got shooed away coz my furkid was with me. sigh. what if she was my guide dog?

reckon we will have to swing by only when the kiddo is not with us...which is strange coz the only reason we visit desa park city is so that she could run at the park.

    1. Missyblurkit: yikes! ya, i saw a few other eateries here, including a steamboat place, that had a "no pets allowed" sign on their entrances. but you're right, there were other people walking around desa park city with their pets. one of them ate at a table outside a nyonya restaurant with her dog...

  12. Unbleached flour," "freshly made dough" & "stone oven - I need to be here! Strangely enough, the Kepong toll jz puts me off and I have never been to DPC till now!
but the french toast...yumms.. here better or the Red Bean Bag?

    1. Rebecca: yaaa, that kepong toll is a nuisance (i mean the traffic, not the toll fee, heheh). but weekends are really OK, especially if you're in taman tun now =) oh, the red beanbag's french toast is still the best in KL, i think! the one here is OK only :D
