Bergie

Tired of Changkat's madding crowd? Take a three-minute ramble over to Bergie, which provides pork-packed, belly-busting meals in a simple but serene setting.

Our top tip is a tall order: the Mountain Burger, featuring two thick, tender pork patties topped with pineapple, cheese, caramelized onions & a fried egg. Yep, it tastes as luscious as it looks, partnered with crisp, blistering-hot fries. Not exactly food for the heart, but it sure is hearty.

Another humdinger: grilled pork belly, as all-out juicy as it gets, soaked in citrus-infused gravy that beats BBQ sauce any night. And to state the obvious: Bergie's food is built for sharing.

Pork sausage & bacon pizza. We'd prefer this with a thinner crust, but the rich toppings make up for that, with lots of chunky, flavorful meat embedded in the gooiest cheese imaginable.

Pork meatball spaghetti. No-frills pasta for people who want it back to the basics. Reminded us of the first time we tried spaghetti bolognese, when we gleefully savored every mouthful, inadvertently smearing some tangy sauce on our chins and spilling strands of pasta on the table.

Apple Margarita & Long Island Iced Tea cocktails.

Softie Snake Bite & Poor Man's Black Velvet beer.

Lyrebird Shiraz. Wine is available by both the bottle and the glass.

  3. ulric: heh, i think el cerdo and pinchos are still the 'ultimate pork' outlets in this neighborhood, but yeah, this one helps us kick back in an extremely relaxed environment, keep our wallets happy and get our fingers messy! :D
baby sumo: ya, so many places offer pork burgers nowadays that we've lost track of which ones are the fabulous ones. but this one certainly scored highly on the 'satisfying' scale! :D

  10. min: oooh, thanks for reminding me of that song! back when i was 10 years old, my cousin used to leave me in stitches by singing it at the top of her voice! :D
ulric: oops, sorry, i didn't notice any separate lunch menu. maybe the place would look happier during the daytime, cos it's a bit dreary and dismal at night, partly due to the absence of customers =)
lfb: would you climb every mountain, ford every stream, follow every raaaaaaaaaainbowwww, till you find that mountain burger? heheh :P
ciki: ooh, i barely noticed the bread, cos i usually just cast off the top part of the bun, so that it doesn't distract me from the patty, heheh. and oh yeah, this was one juicy burger :D
ky: awesome possum! a real hunk of meat to satisfy a real man =)
hungry female: heheh, very punny! but yeah, when we ordered it, we wondered whether it would live up to its name. now i'm waiting for someone to up the ante and create a triple-patty pork burger! :D
