Room 203 & Friends, Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Room 203 is perhaps best known for serving some of Publika's most affordable long blacks and flat whites; its latest outpost, launching this month in TTDI, preserves the RM5 pricing per cup of coffee but brings much more to the table, with lots of help from its friends - hot food, cold beers and cool cocktails by the folks behind Ales & Lagers, poke bowls by Fin, and croissants and cakes by Petiteserie, making this feel like a fun community space that cultivates camaraderie and cheer.

While the venue was a work in progress when we visited, we enjoyed sipping on concoctions by Drink At 203, including the Jolt (RM10; toddy and caffeine, a prelude to a toddy-centred public event scheduled for this Sunday, October 28) and the Misfit Misconception (RM40; a menage a trois of gin, whisky and coffee). You'll also find meals of miso udon, mapo tofu rice and more, clocking in at below RM10 per serving.

  1. Cold brew coffee seems to be the in thing now. I tried an expensive bottled one. Not too impressed I'm afraid.

  2. Coffee RM5.00? That's cheap! Usually we have to pay through our nose for it at such places.
