Steered by the mystery man known only as Unagi, inspired by the standing bars of Tokyo, Piu Piu Piu is a casual, intimate space where customers can crowd around the counter, chat with each other & perhaps find a new friend or two. Tucked inside The Zhongshan Building arts centre, a recently restored block of 1950s-constructed shophouses, Piu Piu Piu (the playful name reflects Unagi's love for water pistols) isn't shooting blanks with its compact, purposefully curated selection - the ultra-refreshing Lemon Sour Plus blends lemons preserved for five days with Piu Piu Piu's own-made soda & a splash of shochu (a non-alcoholic version is also available), while coffee is brewed with a house blend furnished by local roasters Aim Coffee with Unagi's choice of beans. Lagers & pale ales promise an extra incentive for day drinkers (Piu Piu Piu currently closes by 7pm). Food offerings centre on desserts that convey an independent streak; home baker Queeny prepares fresh banana cake, cheesecakes & gula Melaka apple crumble tarts with a wholesome perspective in picking ingredients (begone, white sugar).
