Foley's, Roulette & Oasis Sky Bar @ Ara Damansara

No lack of watering holes at Oasis Ara Damansara, whether you're looking for alfresco boozing - overlooking this public square's signature fountains - or indoor drinking & dining in pub settings.

First up on our expedition: Foley's, which brands itself as an Irish-influenced bar, though the food here is decidedly more diverse, for better or worse; Thai-style chicken wings, nachos & teriyaki chicken chops litter the menu.

Guinness beef stew, with seared beef cubes stewed in stout, root veggies & herbs for three hours, owe the heaviest debt to Irish heritage; lamb stews & cottage pies are also available.

The Roulette, a neighbouring restaurant & bar, attracts its own crowd with an anything-goes menu: Chicken satay? Sure. Seafood tom yam soup? Might as well. Pepperoni pizzas? Only if you say so. Freshwater prawn noodles? Why not, right?

We gambled - & lost - on the baked beef burger (RM25). Better luck next time (unless the house really always wins).

The Roulette's cocktails (RM40 each, for high rollers) bear names like Blackjack (gin-based), Baccarat (rum) & poker (vodka).

Above Foley's, there's Oasis Sky Bar, perched on a relatively lowly second floor, though it does offer a clear view of the skies.

As the sun sets, the square comes alive; it was a drizzly evening, so most folks fled inside to stay warm & dry - though the latter might not apply to the amount of liquor being poured around.
