Tray Cafe @ Hartamas

Returning to Tray Cafe, Haute Food Co's successor at Plaza Damas.
Earlier entry on Tray Cafe: November 4.

What's better than a big, buttery croissant? Well, a big, buttery croissant that's bursting with soft-boiled eggs, mayonnaise & chives.

Omelet stuffed with cheese & mushrooms (RM10). No complaints; satisfactory in its simplicity.

Hummus sandwich. Hits the spot, the windfall of roasted veggies & chickpea mash makes each bite into this crisp ciabatta a flavorful one. No meat needed.

Pancakes with apples & cinnamon butter (RM12). Surprisingly close to sweet perfection.

Peanut butter alert! Reese's peanut butter chocolate cake, remarkably rich.

Tiramisu, tinged with sherry, fresh & creamy.

Berry brilliance: a tart brimming with strawberries, blueberries & raspberries.

Red velvet, enjoyably moist, even at the end of the evening. Tray Cafe opens only through 5pm, but whispers of a soon-to-come Friday night supper club have surfaced.

Flour-free orange cake, topped with almonds. Tray's definitely no desert for desserts.

Tray makes its coffee with Indonesia's Merdeka Roasters Arabica. Every cup costs under RM10.

The list of Naturalis hot herbal tea here is as long as the coffee selection.

Customers consigned to Tray's alfresco area in the afternoon can cool down with iced chocolate, made with real choc pieces.

Tray Cafe @ Plaza Damas,
H-0-2, Plaza Damas, Jalan Sri Hartamas, Kuala Lumpur.
Tel: 03-6201-3168
Open 10am-5pm, except Tuesdays.

  2. Hummus sandwich...something that I will be doing quite often with my supply of hummus that just arrived today from Iran.

This is a whole list of comfort food. At least in my department...and if they allow furkids (which we will know on Sunday...) this will be my happy camping spot!

    1. Missyblurkit: oooh, looking forward to hearing what recipes you'll be whipping up with your fresh stock of hummus. maybe a hummus-and-avocado salad, heh :D oh yeah, tray cafe's owners now say it's fine to have furkids at the alfresco area, so hopefully you'll be able to grab a terrific table here and grab some great grub =)

  10. The peanut butter cake is good. As a peanut butter fan, I want more peanut butter on it, preferably slathered with a coat of peanut butter on top of the chocolate frosting!

  13. Looks like they open pretty quick after Haute.. I'm guessing it might be friends of Haute :)
Good that they are keeping that little shop going and matching it with just as scrumptious desserts!

    1. TNG: they took only a week after haute closed to open! but i guess the changes in the decor were minimal, and they've retained most of haute's staff, it seems. but yeah, it's nice that this shop wasn't left vacant! :D

  16. I went there for twice after they took over. The food was remained good as those day. They also add in more choices on all-day-menu.
However, I was a bit disappointed with the cake that they served compare to Haute. I always had surprise when I went to Haute those days as they did change the cake menu frequently and this is their selling point.
From the past two visits to Tray, the cake menu was same either banana caramel cake, red velvet or carrot cake..more to "Plan B" style and the taste is average...wish the Tray can serve the good quality cake in future :)
