Impiana Hotel might not be known for fine dining, but Cedar On 15 could help change that.
Launched this month on Impiana's 15th floor, Cedar On 15 features both a cavernous restaurant & an alfresco lounge, the latter blessed with a KLCC view.
Service sparkles at this establishment, keeping customers feeling welcome from the earliest moments when they step in & receive their complimentary bread.
Amuse bouche of salmon mousse. Not sure who the chef(s) here are, but we thank them for expertly executing a menu that bursts with flair & finesse.
Soup's up: Cream of topinambur, the Jerusalem artichoke, thick & earthy, partnered with slices of grilled portobello (RM25++). One of the best broths we've had in 2012.
Beef carpaccio (RM48++), made special with burrata cheese & pan-fried mushrooms.
Even the palate cleanser would be worth ordering as its own course: beetroot sorbet with dehydrated green apple for a terrific textural touch.
Might look like an innocuous short crust lemon tart (RM28++), but this baby packs heat, with the citrus curd concealing chili flakes for a one-of-a-kind, sour-spicy punch.
Chocolate Seduction (RM38++): Dark mousse, white ganache & sachertorte.
No lack of liquor, from a cornucopia of creative cocktails like this Skyy Blue Martini (RM25++) infused with kaffir leaf essence, monin lychee & monin elderflower ...
... to wide-ranging wines by the glass at RM30-something, like this Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon.
Live music, soft & sweet, can be enjoyed some nights, supplying classic melodies such as "Over The Rainbow" & "Mona Lisa."
Outside at the lounge, throbbing beats keep parties pumping through at least 2 a.m.
Cedar On 15 deserves to be a star in KL's food firmament; everything here exceeded expectations. We were Cedar's only customers on a recent weeknight, but we're crossing our fingers that more folks will come to savor this spot soon.
Cedar On 15 opens only for dinner, daily.

Hey bright guy...where are the entrees ar? :P
ReplyDeleteUlric: oh, this was just a light meal. will definitely feature a round two for Cedar On 15 next month, with more substantial fare like venison leg glazed with malt, served with braised garlic & celeriac mash =)
DeleteGaaaaargh! I will stalk u there just for tat venison leg...hehe =)
DeleteUlric: oh deer! :P
DeleteCan't wait to see wat the other entrees are...*salivates in anticipation*...hehe :p
DeleteUlric: ok, Round 2 very soon then =)
DeleteReindeerific! :p
DeleteUlric: that's the Christmas spirit!
DeleteAh missed the review session! I saw that chocolate dessert featured on instagram/FB by some bloggers who went! Hehehe must be a star dish!
ReplyDeleteTNG: oh, i don't know what was served at cedar's review sessions, but even though there was quite a nice list of desserts (bread & butter pudding with candied cashews, crepe suzette & pistachio pavlova), my friend and I both agreed that we had to order the chili lemon tart and the chocolate seduction for our meal!
DeleteLovely...I am returning next week to check out the other dishes. Absolutely loved the soup. Like you, I also felt that this was one of the best soups I have had in 2012.
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: phew, am glad my friend and i aren't the only ones who've fallen in love with cedar's signature soup! it's pretty simple but nearly perfect, right. the ideal consistency, a really satisfying combination of flavors =)
Deletewow! one of a kind lemon tart!! I tried chilli chocolate once and didn't enjoy it very much! :P maybe I just haven't have a good spicy dessert yet!
ReplyDeleteVien: yeah, i have mixed feelings too about putting chili in desserts. On one hand, it spices up an ordinary dessert (heh), but on the other hand, it also feels kinda jarring =)
DeleteNow, who just blogged about this place the other day? You people go around and eat in one big group, is it? Like I've seen so many posts on that Renoma place as well...
ReplyDeleteSuituapui: eh, where got lah, you must be imagining things. Renoma, ermmm, well, there are reasons why you saw many posts about it, but not everyone who wrote about it should be placed in the same category =)
DeleteThis is just next door to me! I'm now surrounded by fine food finds, albeit of a pricey variety.
ReplyDeleteFootfringe: ooh, I have to say, I almost wish I worked in your building, for the convenience of reaching these places. It was so jammed on this particular evening, i spent 45 minutes just on jalan Pinang to get to Impiana =)
DeleteI would love that Chocolate Seduction. Ima chocolate person! Hehhheee
ReplyDeleteMelissa; it's a good choc dessert! Even though I'm only a minor fan of chocolate, we still finished every bite of it! :D
DeleteWill wait for your round 2 and 3 before we heading there! Hehehe.
ReplyDeleteCK: heheh, this place is actually less than a five-minute walk from your office, so it's quite convenient for you to visit =)
DeleteThe beef carpaccio looks really fancy! Such pretty swirls... and the sorbet too! Such attention to detail to what most people would consider an insignificant part of the meal, don't you think? :)
ReplyDeleteIamthewitch: you're right, i know some folks say presentation shouldn't matter too much, but i admire chefs who work to accomplish visual art. it does enhance the entire dining experience =)
Deletedefinitely a cool place to chill out..
ReplyDeleteSimple Person: and to escape traffic jams on weeknights! :D
DeleteBeetroot sorbet? Genius! Looks like a lovely place...
ReplyDeleteYouHadYourLunch: yeah, enough of citrus sorbets, this beetroot one showed real imagination :D and yeah, i gotta say, there's a quiet elegance about this place =)
Deletedelicious! i love their signature cod fish :) so delicious with pumpkin seeds!
ReplyDeleteLatest: Out of The Box
Fish: glad to hear you're a fan! this place deserves to have lots of fans =)
DeleteBeetroot sorbet sounds interesting. Bitter sweet?
ReplyDeleteBaby Sumo: ooh, not exactly, but it has that distinct beetroot taste that i can't quite describe :D
DeleteMost expensive lemon tart I hear !
ReplyDeleteWong: oh yeah, desserts here are steeply priced, but i guess it's expected for this location =)
DeleteThis place is spectacular. Quite a fine dining place. The dishes looks delicious and interesting. Its something out of the norm.
