Moxie

For previous review of Moxie, click here (Feb. 3).

Revisited Moxie to check out some of the dishes we missed the last time.

We chose to eat upstairs this time. There's a comfy-looking lounge as well as a very romantic section by the window overlooking the street.

Seafood Nage (Venus clams, prawns, scallops and mussels) cooked in a fish fumet and topped with smoked trout and trout roe. The seafood was terrific but its natural freshness was kinda overpowered by the extremely rich broth.

Moxie Chick. Roasted chicken roulade with herb bread stuffing, Dubarry puree & apple-jack olive pan sauce. Enjoyed this. The meat was as tender and flavourful as chicken can get.

Cattleman's Barbequed Short Ribs smoked overnight in anchovy chilli sauce. This was a slight letdown; parts of the ribs were tough and overcooked, while the sauce itself was somehow not quite the right match for the meat.

Richland Shiraz 2006 (New South Wales) & Cranswick Shiraz 2006 (Riverena).
