Lunch is a leisurely affair at this friendly cafe; rice bowls are assembled with brightly balanced ensembles of ingredients - The Farmer's Choice puts a fresh spin on Japanese inspirations by bringing together slices of pesto-tinged farm egg tamago with fried rice, grilled beef bacon, portobello mushroom confit and cheesy mentai mayo (RM18) for a buoyantly nourishing meal.
If egg-laden Melburnian brunches more up your alley, our vote's for the Volcado (RM23) - poached eggs are hidden in avocado halves for a rich, creamy pairing that's utterly irresistible, completed with hollandaise sauce, toast and sauteed asparagus. Scoop out the runny, molten-hot yolks, mingling with the perfectly ripe avocado flesh, for irresistible spoonfuls of pure pleasure.
The coffee is excellent, relying on 100 percent organic arabica beans from Papua New Guinea, specifically from a plantation where Kofi by 77's founder Yen spent some time. Try the Signature by 77 (RM12; a reviving refreshment of espresso with cold soda and lemon) or a Flat White (RM12; aromatic and beautifully textured).
Fun fact: The cafe's staff say Kofi by 77's name is a nod to Yen's birth year of 1977.
