Roshona Bilash @ Tengkat Tong Shin

Bangladeshi cooking secures a boost at Roshona Bilash, thronged mainly by migrant workers in a testament to the authenticity of its fare. There's no published menu; first, choose your rice (beef biryani is a possibility), then select some side dishes from a self-service counter filled with savoury stuff, from a potently spiced duck bhuna to lots of other curries, plus plenty of vegetables and pastes that the staff here might not be capable of explaining satisfactorily to unfamiliar customers. It's tempting to sample everything, but some of us may wind up getting charged tourist prices, or RM50 for a meal for two.

Roshona Bilash,
46, Tengkat Tong Shin, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

  1. I only know Muar Restaurant there and the beef noodles stall by the roadside though I have never tried. Bangladeshi cuisine? I sure would like to try, see same as some of the dishes at Payung here or not.

  2. I'd totally feel out of place in a place like this...you're very brave to step in. On top of that, it's terrible to be treated 'differently'! >.<

    1. Rebecca: yeah, unfortunately it's a pay-after-you-choose system ... so it was a surprise to find out that the bill was that high!
