Lunch: Viwa Island Resort @ Fiji

Lunch at Fiji's Viwa Island Resort is a calm, cheerful affair of carrot salads and fish curries - wholesome, vibrant nourishment after a morning spent visiting the exuberant schoolchildren of a remote village on Fiji's westernmost island in the South Pacific Ocean.

  1. OMG Sean. Everything looks beautiful. The children, the food, the resort. I know the children may be facing hardships of course, but I hope they are having a chance at a better future.

    1. Rebecca: you're right, the village is pretty poor ... tourism helps though, since a number of the adult villagers work in the resort, and they manage to earn a better living through that. ultimately, education is the key, and it's difficult because the kids don't have that much access to new technology and tech-savvy mentors ...

    1. Suituapui: oh, this is actually Fijian cuisine - curries from Indian migrants, plus plenty of seafood in many styles, including ceviche-like ;)
