Dotty's @ Taman Tun Dr Ismail

Get naughty at Dotty's: Guilty indulgences gild the counters of this cafe-bakery, where sweet curiosities are conceived with fanciful aplomb. This is TTDI's first brush with a speculoos eclair, sprinkled with shortcrust cookie crumbs & stuffed with rich cream that hints of cardamom & cloves (RM10). Slicing Dotty's pastries spills their secrets on the lovely tableware: The immediate lure may be the salted egg yolk cronut, a crisp croissant-doughnut hybrid that pours open with a smooth, ooze-your-heart-out custard flavoured with salted egg yolk, slightly more sweet than savoury (RM11 - if you drop by & it's sold out, you can potentially place an order to come collect a freshly made one in a couple of hours). A flaky brown cube conceals a centre of thick peanut butter & chocolate (RM8), for folks who believe 'diet' & 'counting calories' belong in a foreign vocabulary. Complex meals will be available by this weekend - salt beef with sourdough baguette, Scotch egg with sweet potato fries & French toast with kaya filling; there'll be a doughnut latte too, with the fried confection dunked with coffee & ice cream in a cup.

  7. Just went there today and experienced atrocious service. Ordered 2 lattes and a flatwhite. Only one latte came. After a reminder to them of our order , 15mins later the 2nd cup of latte came. So we asked for our flat white and the barrista came with a really bad attitude saying that the 1st cup of latte is the flat white and implying that we are not able to differentiate between a flat white and latte. If I didn't know the difference I wouldn't have ordered one. Funny way to cover up for missing out on our orders.

The worst thing is that we also ordered a mushroom sandwich. After 20 minutes it didn't come. So we saw a mushroom sandwich delivered to the table beside us. The customer sent that back because it wasn't her order and a minute or two later that same plate of sandwich which went to the table beside us came to our table. But we noticed it had been cut so it was the same plate that was delivered to the next table and they served it to us!!! Hygiene right out the window.

The manager came and apologised and dealt with our complaints and waived the bill but service needs lots of improvement.

  8. The waiters here are damn lansi. Was full house when we arrived, so we waited a while, but no one came up to us to inform us about wait time or tables available. So we waited around for about 10-15 mins or so before we saw a table leaving.

Assumed it was hawker style "chup" place, since there was no service, so we hang around the table and waited for them to clean it. But after cleaning we wanted to sit, the waiter said it was reserved... For the lady who came after us!

Fine, we thought ok.. Maybe we can share a table with the small group taking up a big table behind. So we asked him if we could share the table. He said "NO" straight up and didn't bother to ask the table if they were okay with sharing.

Needless to say, we walked out the door. Never coming back. No cronut is worth putting up with this type of service.

  9. Such a disappointment about this cafe...nice place but lousy customer service....order mocha but serve me latte...we came in a group of 7 and they asked us split table....we request to combine the table, but the waiter told us that the table is so heavy and it cannot b moved...well,I m a girl and I manage to move the table around....I requested to chg the table when the group next to us are done with their meal...guess Wat? The waiter actually reply me saying that "can you c they all just started their meal?"
I m not so sure that they are too busy or Wat,my fren has to go to the counter n get our coffee on our own...when the bill comes, they asked us to pay without showing us the detiAls of the bill...when we get our receipt, they actually charge us a cake which they dint serve us...my fren asked for a refund and they said cannot coz we already paid and they will pack that as take away for us..
    Lousy....

  10. Received the same shitty service. I guess it was a busy weekend and could understand if they couldn't cope. Seeing that we need to wait for our table, politely asked how long is the wait, the waiter just replied "very long". Way to go with the "customer service".

I had better treatment in Le Bread Days...

  11. Totally agree on the bad service. For the price that we are paying, there is a certain expectations in terms of service & food quality. While the desserts are worth a try, their coffee appears to be too watered down. The coconut latte should be taken off the menu! Trainings needed on the waiters

  12. Cashier, waiters all need a sit-down on service with a smile and to not treat people like imbeciles. Save your bucks! i went for the salted egg yolk cronut and it was a runny tasteless heartclogging mess. All the drinks ordered were flat. Even gave their loaves a try and it was dry and subpar. Noisy and cramped.. Dont believe the hype, people. Move along.

  13. Nice food but shitty service attitude. Came in with my group of friends but waited half and hour to order drinks as they were busying serving other customer after us. The place was crowded and cramped. We were a group of 6 but were seated in table of 4. We asked to change table but the waiters does not seems to bother. Bad customer service, will not recommend to other people.

  14. I just came back from dotty's with my group of friends. I am very very disappointed with the service given. The waiters are very unfriendly and the worse part is they are very rude. When we wanted to order our drinks, the waitress asked us to hold on following a glare. Then we saw the table next to us leaving so we requested to change tables because our current table was meant for 4 but they just decided to cramped all 5 on us there. The waitress that we told went to another waitress and told her but she only gave us a glare again. I as a customer is paying for the food I ordered and service tax would actually want to see some of that money be worth it. The desserts were good but all that we wanted to do was to get out that place as fast as we could becuase of the rude waiters. When we asked for the bill, to make them come and pick up the money was so hard. It was up to the point that I had to hand out the money at the waiter passing by but I was ignored by the waiter even though he was walking very close to our table. We had no choice but to leave the exact amount and just leave. We all also realised that they only give good service to wealthy appearanced customers. It was such a disappointment, they had good food but the worst service that I had ever experienced.

  15. My friends and I were eager to try the food but were immensely disappointed by the shitty service given. First of all, they made all of us squeeze into a small table of four because that was the only table available and I was fine with that because I thought it was only temporary while waiting for bigger table but soon, I saw customers who sat at a bigger table getting up because they were done with their meal. Hence, we told a waiter we wanted to move to that table because it would be more comfortable for all of us but he denied our request because there were customers waiting outside; mind you, they came after we waited outside. He denied our request because of the people who came after us and we were forced to remain seated uncomfortably at that small table. Would you treat your boss that way? Would you force your boss to sit at a small table with his group of friends? No, you wouldn’t. Secondly, ordering a drink doesn’t take that long right? Instead of quickly taking our order, a waitress told us to wait for whatever reason and so we did, but she never returned to our table because she was “busy” attending to customers who arrived after us. Even if she was really busy, she could’ve easily sent another waiter to our table but I guess it was ignorance over competence. Is that the attitude of all the waiters there? You choose who you want to be polite to? I mean we are all paying customers. We pay service tax for a good reason. Maybe it would had made a difference if we had showed up in posh cars, wore fancy dresses and extravagant jewellery. It is a shame that a reputable family owns a café with such staff.
