Glass Restaurant @ Thistle, Port Dickson

Craving Italian food while visiting Port Dickson? Glass Restaurant might be the best bet.

Glass is located at Thistle beach resort; this outlet is however not positioned for a seaside view, though the pool's the waterfront compromise.

Since so few Italian restaurants in KL take bold risks in the menu, it's unfair to expect Glass to.

Spinach ravioli with ricotta (the menu calls the cheese 'homemade,' but we're less certain), drowned close to death in a cream sauce of garlic, mushrooms & olives. The too-stodgy ravioli reminds us why mass-manufactured pasta is never as prized as restaurant-produced renditions.

Soft-shell-crab risotto (RM28++). If risotto came from a can, this is how it might taste. Not tragic, but still sad. The saving grace is the pleasurably chunky crab.

We might recommend, to a certain degree, the build-your-own pizza, which we topped with egg (turned out to be hard-boiled), shrimp (can't complain) & anchovies (salty, but that's no surprise).

Wine's available by both bottle & glass. Drinkable though unmemorable.

Worth the drive from KL? Perhaps not for the food, but the resort's not too shabby.

  2. PD? Have not been there for years and years since those days when I had meetings, seminars and what not there - working trips. Nothing much then. Must have changed quite a lot.

  5. Was invited here for a stay recently but was too busy to take up the offer. Eiks, horrified to hear of the food in this restaurant. The breakfast was ok - last I went was 2 years back & I did remember having a nice breakfast (don' think it's the same restaurant)

    1. Rebecca: ya, I didn't visit the hotel's coffeehouse or all-day-dining outlet (I figure that's where brekkie is served), but I was crossing fingers that the Italian restaurant might be decent here. But I guess they don't get many customers for the Italian food =)

  6. Hard boiled eggs on a pizza? Sounds strange but I supposed I could try it over the weekend. Am thinking of a home made pizza with sambal, fried anchovies and hardboiled egg. Hehehe nasi lemak ingredients on a pizza inspired by Tujo:P
