The Daily Habit & Ben's @ Bangsar Shopping Center

"Healthy eating, worth repeating" is the tagline for The Daily Habit, a comfy cafe within the confines of BSC's first-floor CHi Fitness workout club.

Customers have to pass through CHi's welcome lounge to reach The Daily Habit, but no worries: the cafe remains open to everyone & is isolated from the gym section.

Begin with breakfast: The Daily Habit rises at 8am weekdays (9am Saturdays) to start serving scrambled free-range eggs with Scottish smoked salmon, French Lescure butter & caraway rye bread (RM20+).

The salad selection is small, but this one's certain to be a big hit: Quinoa, pear, toasted walnuts, rocket leaves & pomegranate (RM18+), as guilt-free as food gets.

Slow-braised pulled beef & veggies wrapped in multigrain tortilla & paired with chickpea salad (RM20+), for folks who must have meat.

Wholemeal scone, could be KL's most wholesome, with house-made pear jam (RM7+).

Desserts aren't forsworn here; try the mix of quinoa, granola, cranberries & ricotta (RM16+).

Equally enticing: Raw cacao chocolate bars, dairy-free, gluten-free & with no added sugar.

Sold here with the likes of acai & goji berries laced within, about RM10 per bar.

Complimentary flour-free chocolate cake, to wrap up a surprisingly filling lunch.

The Daily Habit's juices are antioxidant-rich: Clean Red (beetroot, carrots, apples & ginger) & Fountain Of Youth (apples, strawberries, wolfberries & raspberries).

That's Amore (banana, strawberries, mango, coconut milk & soy milk) & Vanilla Whey Protein Shake with added 72 percent dark caraibes chocolate.

Immunity-improving Probiotic Shot. The Daily Habit closes 5pm weekdays, 4pm Saturdays.

The Daily Habit offers no alcohol, but no worries: Head up to BSC's third floor to check out the most recently opened branch of The BIG Group's Ben's restaurant chain.

The menu here at BSC will be familiar to fans of Ben's at Pavilion, Publika & KLCC, featuring crowd-pleasing food & beverages that no longer need introduction.

Cocktail recommendations include the Rum Jumper (rum, mint, lime, apple juice) & Garden Elixir (gin, cucumber, elderflower syrup, rosemary sprig).

  1. Wow, this one is seriously super good habit. Keeping up like this on a daily basis is probably the best menu for those who are watching their diet.

    1. Sycookies: yeah, I wonder if it might prove particularly popular among members of this gym, who might wanna relax with some juices and a sandwich after their workout =)

    2. It's popular with the Chi members too .. 10% discount on food and juices. I normally hang out there for lunch on Saturdays. The owners and staff are also very accommodating for letting us use the cafe's facility to chill out with a drink or snack and work remotely from office.

Love their salmon wrap a lot. And quinoa is my favourite grain.

    1. CK: heheh, healthy but satisfying. oooh, they have coffee and a lot of tea here, but didn't try, since I think their focus is supposed to be on their fruit juices here =)

  7. I think more restos like daily habit should open.. whether in gyms or otherwise.. but it's a great alternative to all the fat and cholesterol we eat.. always nice to have a good place to detox at ;)

    1. Ciki: yeah, true, i hope The Daily Habit and other healthy-alternative restaurants do well and encourage more such outlets to open. i'm guilty of consuming too much fat and cholesterol, but i'm happy that places like The Daily Habit serve food that's delicious but not devilishly sinful =)

  8. The Daily Habit would certainly be a good place for many to pick up healthy eating. Healthy food can be tasty too...which many people don't quite realise it:P

    1. Missyblurkit: true, a meal like this with tasty quinoa, free-range eggs and raw chocolate bars is enough to make me give up pork belly and ice cream for one day, heheh :D

  9. Healthy food is definitely tasty - but only when the right method of cooking and ingredients are used. It's a good idea that Daily Habit opened up in a fitness center. Wished that Fitness First had something like that when I was still a member there.

I'm sure this restaurant is something that I'll like. It's like having a healthy meal with the variety of dishes. =)

    1. Waverly: you have a good point. these cafes do need to think of delicious recipes to keep customers coming back. heh, maybe if this one is successful, we'll see a cafe like this open at fitness first within a year or two. and yeah, there's a reasonable range of dishes here, something for everyone (even though their kitchen is small, so they can't really prepare as much food as most regular restaurants) =)

  10. I think it's a good idea to have such a healthy menu at the fitness centre. Fits the theme very well and I'm sure it's a nice place for a healty meal after a work out.

    1. Eiling: yeah, so far it's quite quiet though, and it's only open during the daytime. hopefully they'll extend their operation through dinnertime soon, cos there could be a nice evening crowd too =)

  12. I have yet to find a good creamy scrambled eggs done right in KL.
For the Daily Habit, I'll order that scone first and foremost!

    1. TNG: yeah, a lot of our scrambled eggs are kinda bland and boring. my friends really enjoyed the eggs at the daily habit though. they had mixed feelings about the scone, cos it has a coarse texture, but i liked it :D
