Nemo & Pedro @ Plaza Mont Kiara

Visiting Plaza Mont Kiara's bright-&-breezy cafes Nemo & Pedro Espresso.

First, finding Nemo, where the fish & chips come recommended.

Can't say we're wowed though; these taste essentially like regular dory fish fingers.

Deep-fried shrimp, calamari, soft-shell crab & mussels. All OK, but average at best.

What we would recommend: chunky battered chips, hot & fluffy. Excellent.

Can mushy peas be too mushy? Yes. Can tartar sauce be skipped completely? Yes again.

For dessert/drinks, Pedro Espresso is one option in this Starbucks-&-McD's-dominated complex.

Alas, Pedro's Belgian waffles taste a tad too doughy; the ice cream's cold comfort.

Peanut butter & banana toast, something simple that some can make at home.

Pedro's coffee? Not too bad, but lacking a crucial complexity. Still, that's OK.

  2. Plaza MK isn't known for its food, sadly. That said, I do like Zakuro for its reasonably-priced Japanese food.

    1. Footfringe: ya, it's a shame, since it's actually a nice complex for cafes, with all that alfresco open space at the courtyard and natural sunlight flowing in. it could have been what publika's square is! though ya, i think the worthwhile outlets here would be the handful of japanese ones :D

  4. The tartar sauce used to be good when they first started. Then they've changed the mayo (and other stuff) for whatever reason it was. Because of this, I've stopped (or rarely) going there. LOL! The sandwich is ok, albeit expensive...

Pedro is the cheaper alternative to Starbucks, for me at least. Haha.

    1. Chong: aww, why did they have to mess with a perfectly good recipe, eh. But ya, I think the main plus point about Nemo is that its prices seem fair. Same goes for Pedro too, heh! :D

  5. Mmm, what a shame. Too many 'just average' places around KL that seem to lack passion for outstanding food.

  8. Pedro's coffee was a much better alternative to Starbucks while I was working at Plaza MK for a bit. That and the bulgogi wrap was a great quick lunch for busy days :)

  11. I saw Cafe Berlin at the bottom but no cafe berlin's food! Have you been there yet? These places are all walking distance for me, but probably not worth my effort.
