Burger & Ribs @ PJ Section 14

Its straight-to-the-point name & no-nonsense setting both serve to sharpen Burger & Ribs' focus: the meat of the matter here is, well, the meat.

One of the Klang Valley's priciest pork burgers (RM38.90, no taxes). The payoff rests in the unassuming-looking patty, built with hand-pressed Spanish Iberico pork.

Worth the premium? Somewhat, to sample once. It oozes savory juices (brace for sodium). Still too expensive? No fear: a RM16.90 non-Iberico pork burger is available.

Memphis-style pulled pork burger (RM20.90), a favorite of this outlet's owners, Malaysian husband-&-wife team Leslie & Joyce, whose young children might be the first friendly faces spotted by customers at the entrance.

This burger that combines pork & Aussie beef in its egg-topped patty (RM19.90) is pretty tasty too. Other options include a RM12.90 BBQ chicken burger & an RM11.90 vegetarian falafel one. All buns are made by Burger & Ribs' own associate.

Ribs, also Iberico, RM59.90 for a half-slab (non-Iberico costs RM32.90). Familiar food for outlet founder-chef Leslie: he once toiled at the kitchen of Tony Roma's in Hawaii.

Burger & Ribs opens for dinner, 6pm-10pm, & is closed Tuesdays.

    1. Suituapui: heheh, oh yeah, i guess the black pig's the unofficial mascot for this outlet! :D ya, i like ribs too, though i usually prefer the chunkier spare ribs (which will be available here soon too) =)

  2. Just shy of 40 bucks is gonna be one tough burger to swallow, no matter how delicious it is :S

    1. KY: ya, that's true, it's quite an expensive burger, though i guess the counter-argument might be that iberico pork is an expensive ingredient =)

  3. Saw the Groupon for this place for the Iberico pork burgers (2 burgers and fries for RM30) ; I would get it, but I can't really get anyone else to go with me/split the cost :P Definitely cheaper than the price of one burger... If there was a ribs deal, I'm in! LOL...

    1. Lifeasacynic: yeah, the owners say they'll be losing money on that groupon deal, but they're hoping it'll pay off in the long term. the burgers are available for takeaway, i think, so maybe you could still get the deal and bring the burgers home to enjoy over the day. oooh, and i hear there will be a rib deal soon too! :D

    1. Melissa: ooh, if you're looking for the cheaper selection here, there's also a non-iberico pork burger that costs RM16.90 (no service charge or taxes) and a non-iberico pork ribs that costs RM32.90 per half-slab :D

  5. The price is certainly on the high side. Would love to try but as KY said, it would be a tough one to swallow.

    1. Chong: ya, though in this outlet's defense, the burgers are actually quite big. i think these photos make them look deceptively small, heh! :D

  6. I love Spanish Iberico pork but I agree with KY, the price tag is really hard to swallow. Except it is the legendary Kuroi Buta (black pig) from Japan.

    1. Wilson: ooh, but actually, the spanish iberian black pig that's used to make the special burger & ribs here is quite pricey on its own. you can check it out at restaurants including el cerdo and el meson, and you'll find that it's always something that hurts the wallet, heh :D

  7. Hmm...almost RM40 for a burger and it's salty too, from what I gather in your post? Not gonna hurry there any time soon :P

    1. Pureglutton: i think the seasoning here was a bit too strong for me, but maybe other customers will disagree, heheh. but no worries, if the RM40 burger is too expensive for you, there's also a RM16.90 non-iberico pork burger available here (comes with fries too, heheh) :D

I was goin to go yesterday after seeing the Groupon deal but all my frens wanted to wait til they can start using their coupons! LOL. I just wanted to head over and chomp on that burger!
Actually it's cheap.. cos a wagyu burger at Prime cost RM128++ and it didn't taste that good .. :P

    1. Rebecca: ya, you have a good point, i think the RM40 price for the iberico patty one is fair, since iberico pork isn't cheap. but ya, i think it's fine to wait for the groupon deal to officially start, which is sometime next week, i think. the owners say they won't be making any money from groupon purchases for the iberico burger, so you can probably be assured of a good bargain :D

    1. Missyblurkit: heh, yeah, you're right. come to think of it, the price of the iberico pork burger here is basically the same as a long island iced tea cocktail at most bars =)

    1. YouHadYourLunch: yeah, the competition among burger joints is fierce now! Ooo, I've only tried the sandwiches at tedboy, but if their burger is as good as their sandwiches, then it'll be worth sampling for sure :D

    1. Baby sumo: it'll be a good deal, i think, as long as they maintain the quality and size of the burger. Deal apparently begins next week! :D

    1. Ulric: yeah, it might not be my favorite burger ever, but it definitely scores well in the tender-juicy department (versus some other pork patties elsewhere that can be a bit chewy and dry) =)

  19. My brother and I went there today. All thanks to the Groupon deal! ;) Because of that, only then we knew about its existence. Well, the pork patty is not too hard, just nice. cooked to perfection. just that it's a bit of the salty for my taste. Btw, the size of the burger is quite big which is a shock to me as I thought it would be on a smaller size, just like our everyday Ramly burgers;P Overall the iberico pork burgers are quite nice. Would definitely go there again :)
