Returning to the relocated Tatto at Hampshire Place. Previous entry: Sept. 26, 2012.
Can't ever resist burrata cheese, served here Caprese salad-style.
But our favorite at Tatto has to be the spicy seafood soup, a majorly flavorful recipe bristling with scallops, fish, mussels and other inhabitants of the ocean.
Roasted duck risotto. Tasty, but would be better if the rice were less mushy.
Four cheese gnocchi, sinfully satisfying. We wiped the whole plate clean before we knew it.
Tatto's pizza provides pure pleasure, with a base that's as crisp as we'd want it to be, well topped with spinach, olives, beef salami, mushrooms and ricotta.
Desserts are passable but imperfect. More liquor in the tiramisu would make it lovelier.
A fair version of the ubiquitous hot chocolate cake, centered with bittersweet creaminess.

The four cheese gnocchi sounds good. Wish Burrata cheese was available to purchase in the supermarkets!
ReplyDeleteBaby Sumo: yeah, it's a better-than-expected gnocchi, and not cloying, thankfully :D ooo, hopefully burrata will come to our retail outlets someday. maybe ben's independent grocer, heh =)
DeleteA great tucked away ! 20++years driving up and down Jalan Tun Razak and I did not know, the many restaurants you recommended located at places and roads I am so familiar and I never knew they existed, I still don't !!!!!
ReplyDeleteWong: oh ya, this restaurant just moved into hampshire place a few months ago. if you're ever looking for a good italian restaurant in this area, you can try this place, it's recommended :D
DeleteYa, the rice does look mushy... The pizza's very colourful.
ReplyDeleteSuituapui: italian cuisine's a riot of fun colors! :D
Deletei like the dish with scallops, fish and mussels~
ReplyDeleteMr lonely: ya, that's an incredible soup, very tasty =)
DeleteOooh that four cheese gnocchi will definitely be on my next order. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Yum list: it can be a risk to order gnocchi in kl, since so many places botch it, but tatto's one is quite pleasing :D
Delete4 cheese gnocchi! I know that will be the hubster's choice! I will lie the smoked duck risotto...but like you, I hope it will be less mushy...pic looks a wee like baby porridge:P
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: I usually prefer gnocchi with a meaty sauce instead of a cheesy one, but this one at tatto worked out ok in the end, heheh. And ya, hopefully the kitchen will master the art of the perfect risotto this year! :D
DeleteCurious colour for the duck risotto...pizza would be my order, looks fab!
ReplyDeleteYouHadYourLunch: yeah, it could be the combination of the lighting in the restaurant and my inability to get my camera to adjust accordingly, heheh :D and ya, the pizza here's fulfilling indeed! =)
DeleteFour cheese gnocchi looks pretty awesome to me. Will try one day!

Wilson: heheh, yeah, sounds like there are a lot of fans of gnocchi in KL! :D
DeleteI also agree the Four cheese gnocchi really looks good...
ReplyDeleteWill order this if I go there..
Simple person: ya, especially if you enjoy strong, cheesy flavors :D
DeleteMmmm burrata cheese seems to be all the craze lately. I do love a plate of perfectly cooked, pillowy soft gnocchi. Yum!
ReplyDeleteKelly: ya, burrata cheese first surfaced at kl's restaurants only in mid-2011, but since then, it has steadily become very popular :D and yep, the type of gnocchi you just described is exactly the way i like it too! not easy to find though. many outlets serve their gnocchi stodgy, doughy or sometimes even powdery, unfortunately =)
