Crispy chicken rendang and mushroom soup with buah kulim are among the playful temptations at Farm Cafe, a lovely space for soul food with fresh local flourishes.
Farm Cafe pays cheeky tribute to MasterChef UK judge Gregg Wallace with Gregg's Crispy Rendang (RM28.50), which packs a crunch with fried chicken sandwiched with rendang sauce in a turmeric-tinged waffle that evokes pakora fritters, laced with spinach and curry leaves, plus extra rendang on the side and an umami-rich banana blossom micro-herb salad. It's a fun ensemble that's full of rich, robust flavours.
The mushroom soup (RM15.50) is also something imaginatively special, creamy and textured with a beautiful blend of shiitake and button mushrooms, plus buah kulim, the earthy, garlicky-nutty fruit that's considered the Malaysian truffle, harvested from the Kedah town of Kulim.
