Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral: Jom Buka 2021 Ramadan buffet and takeaway sets

From Batu Pahat-style Nasi Biryani to Daging Masak Itam Sarawak, Ayam Percik Kelantan to Asam Pedas Ikan Pari Melaka, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral's 2021 Ramadan buffet promises a truly personal touch.

The Jom Buka@Nook buffet pulls from traditional family recipes of Aloft KLS' staff members, brought together in a spread that's spearheaded by the hotel's Executive Chef Arfizan Abdul Rahim and Executive Sous Chef Nor Hanis, gloriously celebrating generations of time-honoured cooking.

Aloft's Ramadan buffet runs from 15 April to 15 May 2021, 6:30pm to 10:30pm. The regular price is RM148 nett per adult, with early bird pricing at RM108 nett per adult for bookings made by 9 April. For reservations and more information, call 03-2723-1154 or email kulal.b&f@marriott.com

If you love carved meat, your first stop at this buffet should be the beef rendang that's prepared with exceptional effort. The braised brisket is sous-vide cooked for 12 hours, rendering the beef so succulent and steeped in flavour, then baked with the rich, robust rendang sauce that seeps luxuriously into the meat. You'll want second and third helpings of this special standout!

Another highlight: Nasi Biryani with a variety of Gulai Kawah.

The rice is based on an Aloft team member's aromatic, attractively colourful recipe from Batu Pahat, tweaked to be a little lighter in flavour so that its protein pairings can shine.

The Gulai Kawah Ayam Berempah features chicken that's marinated not only with spices but gula Melaka, lacing it with a lovely sweetness to complement the spiciness. The Gulai Kawah Daging Tumis Darat is remarkably bold and beefy, with the kind of creamy kuah that's super-satisfying for mixing with rice.

Other attractions are available on a rotational menu that boasts about 100 delicacies daily.

There'll always be five kinds of kerabu, such as Kerabu Jantung Pisang, Kerabu Nanas, Kerabu Kacang Panjang Kelapa Sungai and Kerabu Mangga Muda Perut Lembubeautifully showcasing the freshness of Malaysian produce.

For fans of raw Malaysian salads, sample the ulam-ulaman with sambal mangga, sambal belacan, budu and cincaluk for plenty of lip-smacking punch.

Expect about 50 different mains, also on a rotational basis, championing local legacies for a hearty feast from a soulful kitchen.

Top temptations include the Daging Masak Itam Sarawakwith Sarawak black peppers enhancing the soy sauce beef, and the Telur Itik Masak Lemak Cili Apidecadent with duck eggs.

We also enthusiastically endorse the Ayam Percik Kelantan, Pajeri Nanas Manis Perak, Sambal Tumis Udang Petai and Asam Pedas Ikan Pari Melaka, taking us on a culinary tour that draws from diverse corners of the country.

Of course, Ramadan and Raya are also synonymous with a sumptuous selection of Malay kuih, cakes and cookies. True to the season, there'll also be distinctive dates including kurma ajwa and kurma tangkai.

The full buffet selection will also comprise Kambing Bakar, melt-in-the-mouth roasted lamb served with sambal bumbu, plus Sup Periuk, Bubur Lambuk and Chicken Rendang Negeri Sembilan, alongside satay, rojak and noodle stations.

International favourites like Wok Fried Kam Heong Crab, Chicken Kung Po, Pan-seared Fish Fillet with Bisque Sauce & Crispy Leek, Chicken Cordon Blue with Thyme Jus, Lala Omelette, and Hainanese Chicken Rice will also be featured.
