Hungry Bunch @ Sunway Pyramid

Hungry Bunch is one of Sunway Pyramid's newest contemporary cafes, aiming to whip up a robust appetite among shoppers for a broad spectrum of budget-conscious crowd-pleasers that range from minestrone soup (RM8) to fried chicken wings (RM10), French toasts (RM9) to beef burgers (RM18), black pepper chicken chops (RM15) to grilled salmon steaks (RM28).

Our favourite order here is probably the soft-shell crab burger (RM28), which comes with a large, whole crab, crisply battered outside & juicy within, served in a charcoal bun with lots of sweet potato fries & spicy mayo coleslaw for a heartily filling platter.

The menu also includes Eggs Atlantic (RM15; two runny poached eggs with smoked salmon, mustard mayo sauce, mushrooms & house-made baked beans - would be better if the white bread was replaced with a better type of toast, though this is still fair for the price), carbonara pasta (RM12; a competent, cream-type version with turkey ham), & Aussie beef steak with chips, veggies & garlic butter sauce (RM25; a throwback to the time when most steaks at restaurants cost under RM30).

Desserts span chocolate lava cake with ice cream (RM13), creme brulee (RM8) & cakes, while drinks include flavours like Tropicana Elderflower or Zesty Lemongrass (RM6). Thanks to the Hungry Bunch team for having us here.

  1. I wonder where they get the soft shell crab from, went to a cafe once and their soft shell crab was huge too. Never seem to be able to find them these sizes at the supermarkets :P

  3. Sadly I seldom go to Sunway Pyramid ever since I moved out of Puchong some 9 years ago. But I think that this place is worth checking out if I happen to go there.

  4. The decor is nice enough but for myself, I find the lighting unattractive, not to mention VERY bright...too bright for me, I would most likely get a headache. :) The exposed brick is nice and the dishes look tasty.

  6. Don't really like Pyramid as it's too vast and the parking system too annoying. I remember Hungry Bunch, but whenever I walk past it's usually past mealtimes :P

    1. SC: i share your sentiments whole-heartedly about Pyramid - I used to like both Sunway Pyramid & 1 Utama, but all the extensions have turned them into monsters for me :)
