The Roof, billed as a major new dining & entertainment hub, is now open, bidding to live up to sky-high expectations from its perch on nearly the 30th floor of Bandar Utama's First Avenue.
It's five outlets in one location: The main restaurant is Signature, a spacious setup brought to us by the folks behind Damansara Heights' now-closed The Hill.
The best seats in the house? The ones by the window, of course.
The benefit of visiting on an evening when The Roof isn't publicly open? Having everything to ourselves, without needing to confront crowds. The downside, naturally, is that the kitchen & bar were closed too.
This restaurant is available for bookings under TABLEAPP, which enables customers to make instant reservations at Malaysia's top restaurants, while saving time and money in the process. Reserve your table at this restaurant by clicking here.
The most popular place at The Roof will likely be Stratosphere, essentially what its press releases say it is: a bar on a grassy helipad with an unfettered 360-degree view of suburban Petaling Jaya & its surroundings.
Here's that exceptionally rare snapshot of Stratosphere when it's blissfully peaceful ...
... without the presence of a single soul here. A uniquely special treat indeed.
Remarkable opportunity to contemplate the hills & the homes that dominate the panorama.
No roof to call its own: Stratosphere's at the mercy of the elements. Rainy evenings, begone!
As far as PJ goes, Stratosphere is a one-of-a-kind hangout; let's hope it does everything right.
Other outlets at The Roof comprise the single-malt & cigar lounge Malt & Leaf, sports bar Score & clubbing venue Play.
Current business hours for The Roof. Note it'll be closed Nov. 5.
Phone numbers: Signature by The Hill - 016-229-1505, Stratosphere - 012-6910628,
PLAY - 013-270-3111 / 019-220-7111, Malt & Leaf - 017-908-5766, SCORE - 012-691-0628.

Wow, Sean, what spectacular views! That must have been a treat for you to not have to worry about the crowds. :)
ReplyDeleteLinda: yeah, it was really cool to be able to enjoy the views here with just one friend together with me, having the wide-open space completely to ourselves. there will never be that opportunity again, since the place will be open to the public every evening soon =)
DeleteThanks for the info on the opening times! I hope tat Signature will be good...hehe =)
ReplyDeleteUlric: ya, there hasn't been info on their facebook page or other publicity sites about their opening hours and their phone numbers, so it's been pretty inconvenient for potential customers. am looking forward to having a meal at signature, maybe in a couple of weeks =)
DeleteLook me up then...cose I'll be back on Nov 16...hehe =)
DeleteUlric: yay! and this should be less than a 30-min drive from your office after work, heh :D
Deletewow...nice place! Breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteMelissa: oh yeah, on a good clear day, the scene can take our breath away! :D
DeleteIt is a new place that not be missed. I love the Signature by the Hill.
ReplyDeleteWilson
Wilson: glad to hear it gets your vote of approval!
DeleteI saw them tie tiny helium-filled balloons on cars in Uptown last week to promote and had wondered what the fuss was about...
ReplyDeleteLifeasacynic: oh, heh, that sounds kinda cute, but I hope the car owners weren't annoyed to find balloons tied to their vehicles! :D
DeleteI've seen a few people blogging about this place - I wouldn't wanna sit outside, not in our weather...and I've this fear for heights - no problem when I was younger...old age, something wrong with my ears and my sense of balance. :(
ReplyDeleteSuituapui: yikes sorry to hear that, it sounds like it can be an inconvenience. Hopefully it doesn't trouble you too much!
DeleteNeed to return for the food at The Signature for sure. It's open for service already.
ReplyDeleteWas at the media preview and it wasn't fully operational then so I didn't really got to experience the food.
Rebecca: the food looks likely to be not too different from what the hill served, though that seems to be mainly speculation. Ya, it'll be fun to see what will be coming out of the kitchen here! :D
DeleteOMG! You have your very own ebook / emag and it's full of photos and pictures and it's so professionally done! Nice work on that Sean!
ReplyDeleteBTW, I clicked over and was just wondering if there's an option to save either as PDF or ePub? That would be absolutely awesome, the former is better than the latter of course. :D
There's a download icon on the lower left hand corner of the screen...u will be given an option to download the Full Publication...hehe =)
DeleteHuai Bin: thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it. It was fun to make, but yeah, it took a lot of energy too =) hmm, the option for saving seems to store the ebook as a PDF file on some devices and ePub on others. I'm not sure how to choose which option, but hopefully you'll find the right tab/button on the screen that enables downloads :D
DeleteUlric: that's a nice clear explanation! :D
DeleteSaw many blogs abt this place..hopefully the food will live up to the hype.
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: heh, I think the main reason customers will come here will be for the bird's eye view but ya, crossing fingers that the kitchen will put genuine effort into the food too! :D
DeleteI was at the same building when they have the launch party. too bad didn't get the invitation to the launch, but will definitely go to experience when it is finally open to public. =)
ReplyDeleteJean: oooo I didn't attend the launch parties either (they held the gatherings over the span of four different evenings on consecutive weeks), but ya, I hope you'll enjoy this place too now that it's open! =)
DeleteYour photos are as inspiring as usual! I love the view from high above.
ReplyDeleteCquek: thanks! yeah, i gotta give credit to the fine view, ultimately :D
DeleteLove the view. Had a good time at Stratosphere some weeks back with the view and some good drinks in hand. Looking forward to Malt and Leaf!
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: I'm looking forward to sipping a mojito at signature! Maybe will bump into u there someday! :D
DeleteMay i know the price range in the fnb?
ReplyDeleteDD: i'm not sure, as i haven't seen the menu, but i think you should prepare for at least RM50 per person...
Deletebabe just want to ask, this hotel halal or not, serve pork?
ReplyDeleteVisiting Stratosphere when it's not publicly open- is this opportunity still available to us?
ReplyDeleteHi, i would like to ask about the restaurant only have one Signature right?

ReplyDeleteGot to know some useful information on skylights. Interested customers can also try Vision AGI (http://www.visionagi.co.uk/home/. I have personally purchased from them and would recommend everyone for their huge collection of pyramid skylights.
This has to be one of the coolest open roof setting that I have ever seen! It seems like a great way to enjoy a night out with friends and family. I need to give this place a visit one of these days.
