The Hub opened its second outpost in Damansara Heights on 5 October this year, exactly five years after the birth of its original outlet in OUG. Since 2015, The Hub has become one of KL's most respected coffee roasters, supplying beans to scores of cafes - a testament to its founders' pure passion for their pursuit.
The Hub in Damansara Heights has several distinctive features.
Above the brew bar, a stream of containers filled with single-origin coffee beans winds its way on a conveyor belt; each one is numbered so the barista knows whether it holds, say, the Bolivia Finca Isabel Geisha, the Guatemala El Injerto, the Colombia La Espranza Mokka, the Ethiopia 2020 Cup of Excellence, or one of more than 30 varieties of beans available for a sweeping selection of pour-over coffee. Try the critically acclaimed Yemen Port of Mokha (RM30), sourced from some of the world's most remote, least accessible coffee farms in the Arabian nation.
You'll also note a freezer behind the counter that stores beans for espresso-based beverages and distillation equipment near the entrance that produces evaporated milk in about 90 minutes - intriguing tech touches for a cafe that, thankfully, still maintains a human touch in helping customers care more about coffee.
