Veuve Clicquot Bar, Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur

It's time to pop the bubbly at Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur, where the city's flagship Veuve Clicquot Bar is now open, bringing the nearly 250-year-old Champagne house's signature sparkle to this hotel's sleek space.

The Veuve Clicquot Bar launches this month within Traders Hotel's Gobo Upstairs Lounge, with a sixth-floor perspective of KL's shimmering skyline. Its central pillar showcases the 10,000-kilometre flight that Veuve Clicquot's coveted bottles travelled to reach Malaysia from Reims, France's champagne capital, where Veuve Clicquot's vineyards and cellars have remained since 1772.

Veuve Clicquot's yellow label dominates the bar, a symbol of the house's history and heritage, with countless milestones through the centuries - Veuve Clicquot, which translates to Widow Clicquot, is named for Madame Clicquot Ponsardin, credited for creating the world's first known vintage champagne in the early 1800s. She ensured Veuve Clicquot was served in royal courts across Europe - it has been mentioned in works by Tolstoy and Chekhov, and today, it's as relevant as ever, with millions of bottles enjoyed globally every year, and was certified for environmental sustainability in 2014.

Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur is the perfect place in KL's city centre to position the Veuve Clicquot bar, being home also to SkyBar, Malaysia's pioneering, most popular bar with a towering view.

To celebrate the glamour of the Veuve Clicquot bar, sip and snack on the current champagne-and-canapés promotion. The canapés are prepared by Gobo's capable kitchen brigade, based on ingredients recommended by Veuve Clicquot to complement the champagne's silky elegance and softly expressive tang.

The evolving selection of canapés spans the spectrum of international inspirations, from Asian duck mantou, soft shell crab maki, seafood wontons, and Thai-style fish to European-accented tomato bruschetta, spiced pumpkin croquettes with sour cream, smoked salmon with sourdough, and bread and cheese sticks with pumpkin hummus.

The pairings succeed pleasurably, proving the versatility of Veuve Clicquot in bringing a beautiful uplift to everything from sushi rolls to open-face sandwiches. A variety of European gin-and-tonic cocktails are also available at the Veuve Clicquot bar.

Many thanks to Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur for this peek at its latest launch.
