Hugo's On 6 is Best Western Premier Hotel's haven for Mediterranean tapas and mezze.
Kick back in this sixth-floor restaurant's cavernous interior or lounge outdoors by the pool, watching the sun sink over both the KL and Petronas Towers.
Thrill-seekers can stomach the "callos y chorizo" _ beef tripe in a savory stew of sausages, chickpeas and smoked paprika, stirring memories of meals in Madrid.
Hugo's soft-launch menu is limited but nevertheless includes something for everyone. Always nice to nibble on air-dried tuna with Manchego cheese on toast.
Free-range chicken in garlic-paprika cream sauce. Not too memorable, but it's worth noting now that Hugo's prices are pleasing: this cost RM16++, on par with, say, La Bodega.
Baba Ghanoush, a comfort-food puree of oven-baked aubergine and sesame seed paste.
Super-soft potatoes in a tangy tomato-sour cream sauce.
Chili Orange Martini and Negroni, executed with flair to spare.
Hugo's is open daily starting in the evening, with happy hours between five and seven.
All in all, not a bad stop, but many might criticize it for being less than lively. It's not the outlet's fault though, since it's still not on people's radar.
Hot night, wind was blowing; unfortunately, neither ripped jeans nor skin was showing.

Nice view from the pool!
ReplyDeleteBaby sumo: oh yeah, the sixth floor is not very high, but this is still quite a strategic location to look out on the city =)
DeleteThe interior looks lovely. And I do like the pool too. I heard that you could actually go for a dip there.
ReplyDeleteKelly: ya, I quite like the big painting on the wall inside, with the collage of portraits. Very nice :D heh, I think there were two or three people swimming in the pool earlier, but I assumed they were hotel guests. It might be nice if restaurant customers could take a dip too! :D
DeleteI'm sure the hotel wouldn't stop you if you wanted to go take a dip, no? Only problem would probably be the lack of any change of clothes, cos you'd be dressed up for dinner, not for a swim :)
ReplyDeleteTiming: heh, that could be solved by packing some swimwear in a bag and using the changing rooms here. Though yeah, it kinda sounds like a bit too much hassle, except for folks who really enjoy swimming :D
DeleteI'm having a eggplant dip phase right now!!! So good with poached eggs and toasted sourdough! :P
ReplyDeleteVien: oooh, i'm imagining the combo of sourdough toast, poached egg and an eggplant dip, and it sounds heavenly! i want that too! :D
DeleteLovely setting up there and... manchego cheese - I'm in!
ReplyDeleteThe Yum List: amen to that! i've never met a sheep's cheese that i didn't love! :D
DeleteI like the view from the last photo!
ReplyDeleteIf there are some cute girls/guys in the pool, that will be even better! :D
CK: oh ya, that's a view of KL Hilton/Le Meridien and some parts of brickfields, where there's still construction :D heheh, maybe there'll be some cute swimmers in the daytime. evening and nighttime, too cold to be in the pool! =)
Deletehey i like their "Hugo's on 6" sign. that's very cool. I don't think i'll ever try any martini with a visible chilli in it!
ReplyDeleteEiling: yeah, though i wonder if there's any interesting reason for why they chose the name 'hugo.' and ya, the martini looked interesting, though i didn't nibble on the chili, and the drink itself wasn't really spicy :D
DeleteEeriely quiet...
ReplyDeleteMichelle: heh, think of this as a chance to escape from the crazy crowds! :D
Deletevery beautiful night scenery....
ReplyDeleteSimple Person: yeah, KL looks very peaceful from here :D
Deletesomehow the air dried tuna reminds me of parma ham.
ReplyDeleteKY: you're right! they both have a similar kind of color and cured, smoky texture :D
DeleteI like the night view....good ambiance!
ReplyDeleteMelissa: yeah, on a cool night, i wouldn't mind sitting by the pool, sipping a drink, chatting with a friend and just staring out at the scenery :D
Deletetoo bad the crowd has not picked up yet, because at least the food is different - KL needs more of that! Maybe early days...
ReplyDeleteCiki: yeah, hopefully once they expand their menu here and launch some sort of publicity campaign, there'll be more customers. and you're right, we need places like this to spice up our dining scene =)
DeleteHey I can spot my office in one of your pics. :-D
ReplyDeleteLemongrass: oooh, you should bring some binoculars to the office and see if you can spot any cuties swimming at this pool on a steamy afternoon like today :D
DeleteOooo....I spot my office too! :D
ReplyDeleteBangsar Babe: heheh, if i'm ever here again, i'll try to wave from beside the pool and hope you all can spot me (if you're working late!) :D
DeleteGotta love that view. Wonder how till it gets blocked by 'development'! That callos y chorizo looks sooo good. Oh I miss Spain!
ReplyDeleteYouHadYourLunch: heh, yeah, that skyline is definitely gonna change over the next several years (for better or worse) :D yeps, the callos y chorizo here tasted pretty much like how i remembered it from spain. for that alone, i gotta say kudos to the kitchen here! :D
