Baba Quay, Ronnie Q Bangsar

Pie tee, pongteh and Pimm's: Baba Quay, the new Peranakan kitchen of Bangsar's Ronnie Q pub, tempts us with traditional Nyonya cooking, paired with a cocktail or two for extra pleasure.

The top hats are crunchy and fresh-tasting, though they could be more richly stuffed with shredded turnips for a juicier chew (RM12 for six pieces). The pongteh chicken is a clearer triumph, creamily textured with bean paste, beautifully balanced with tender chunks of meat and soft potatoes for a true comfort-food stew (RM28).

Punch up the potency with an order of Pimm's No. 1 and Pina Colada (RM24 each).

Baba Quay at Ronnie Q
32, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar, 59100 Kuala Lumpur. Baba Quay's kitchen opens daily, 1130am-930pm.

  1. Peranakan? I guess if one has had a drink too many, one can never tell the difference. LOL!!!
