From outside, Twenty Fourty Six 2046 looks like a nondescript shop-house in Taman SEA, hidden in plain sight between an auto repair workshop and an air-conditioning parts shop, without a view within for passers-by to peek into.
Step inside and you’ll find a surprisingly cavernous space, with a colourful, cushy mezzanine beneath soaring ceilings that raise the roof for photogenic PJ cafes.
Brunch spans East to West with some interesting specialities.
Butter of God features sourdough slices with guilt-inducing grilled marrow served on the bone, a calories-be-damned creation that’s all the crisp toasted carbs and gelatinous seasoned fat you need (RM28).
Drunk Food is an unabashed invitation for day-drinking, with Korean spicy-souped Shin noodles showered with decadently succulent lamb slices (more fat!), scallops, shiitake mushrooms and a fried egg, irresistible for fans of luxed-up instant noodles (RM26).
2046’s No. 1 temptation though is its signature sourdough Portuguese egg tarts, pastel de nata that's crackly to the bite and custardy to the chew, laced with a subtle blend of mozzarella and cheddar (RM10).
