Kanbe Sushi is the newest member of Mont Kiara's Kanbe family of restaurants - this one specialises in sushi and sashimi, complementing its siblings that serve ramen and yakiniku.
The range is cheerful, crowd-pleasing and comprehensive, with many intriguing items at fair prices. Choose a fish for sashimi, such as kinmedai, or a sweeping sushi selection of everything from hirame engawa (RM8.80 per piece) to ankimo (RM8.80 for two pieces).
Izakaya-inspired treats include raw snapper served with egg yolk for decadent dipping, hard-boiled eggs layered with uni and ikura, collagen-laden hon maguro skin strips, crab tomalley with seaweed, and gunkan sushi topped with quail egg yolk and grated mountain yam.
