Could a British-born restaurant serve satisfying Korean-style fried chicken? Malaysians can now find out - straight from Hammersmith and Tavistock Square, Wing Wing has opened its first outpost in Kuala Lumpur, promising slickly hand-brushed wings in a stylishly painted setting that strives to fuse the street cultures of London and Seoul in Pavilion mall.

Have the Mix and Match (RM15.90) for the most comprehensive sampling of Wing Wing's selection - two wings, two drummettes, and a whole drumstick for those of us who prefer our chicken parts fleshier. The result conveys the full, unmistakable hallmarks of Korean fried chicken - a light, slightly crisp bite, followed by a moist, sweet-salty chew.

Wing Wing offers three basic flavours - soy garlic, hot sauce, and the most interesting, licorice, which might be an acquired taste but is thankfully not too pungent here.

For customers who crave carbs with their protein, check out the Chicken Katsu Bao, which stuffs slices of the fried chicken with a thick, titanic load of punchy kimchi coleslaw in fried mantou buns (RM15.90) - the highlight of this is the unconventional coleslaw with a forceful Korean twist, pretty fly for a fried-chicken joint.

Wing Wing's menu mostly remains true to its London roots, with one exception - no beer here, so it's not exactly a full-blown chimaek restaurant.
