Arch Cafe seems worth visiting for local fare in a contemporary setting if you're near Central Market, especially if the chicken rice balls prove to be a measure of the menu - a well-executed platter, with flavoursome rice, succulent chicken & satisfying dips of garlic-chilli & pounded garlic-ginger (RM12). You'll also find staples like nasi lemak & Hainanese chicken chop, but for seekers of cute novelties, try the Durian Imperial (RM13), an enjoyably creamy cake shaped with thorny spikes, encasing a soft, fluffy centre of fresh durian, cream & vanilla sponge. Durian pancakes, mille-crepes & ais krim potong are available too.

Assam Boy is a colourful & convenient stop if you're catching a movie at Berjaya Times Square, promising the locally inclined likes of Penang laksa, pandan chicken & fried popiah. Some of the more interesting offerings here include a Mee Rebus that tastes somewhat like a strange hybrid of regular mee rebus & curry mee, distinctively dunked with two skewers of chicken satay (RM8.90), & a pretty refreshing Durian Cendol that showcases two fat, fairly fleshy pieces of the King of Fruits (RM9.90).
