A burgeoning burger chain, Fuel Shack recently opened two outlets nearly simultaneously, at KLCC's second-floor food court & the Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) transportation hub, with plans for another branch soon at Low Yat Plaza.
The burger-loving menu offers a meat for every sort of carnivore, including lamb, a 150-gram patty packaged with cheese, lettuce & tomato for RM14. These patties are heavy & hearty, perfect for big eaters, while the accompaniments feel fairly fresh.
Chicken comes with pineapple (RM14). However, Fuel Shack's patties are the extremely processed kind, with a texture that makes this chicken patty, for example, a close cousin to McD's nuggets.
Minced beef with blue cheese (RM16). Still, burger obsessives should probably try Fuel Shack instead of dismissing it without first-hand experience; the KLCC kiosk is securing long lines at lunchtime, so we might see many more shacks in the months ahead.
Double beef with egg & cheese (RM17), monstrously massive. Too much, much too much.
Dory fillet burger (RM13), a decent-enough substitute for a Filet-O-Fish. Still waiting for the mother of all fish burgers to someday surface in the Klang Valley.
Hot dogs are available too; this Mexican-themed one (RM9) comes with a beef bacon-wrapped sausage, raw onions & tangy tomato salsa.
Fuel Shack's TBS branch serves fried chicken & pizzas too, though neither looks like a must. Service at both KLCC & TBS is cordial but sometimes sluggish.
Plus point: Fuel Shack seems the most assuredly halal of the Klang Valley's rash of burger cafes; the next time someone voices dietary concerns, send him/her here, for better or worse.
