A ravishing residence transformed into an elegant eatery: Maison Francaise, or French House, could easily become one of 2012's best, most exciting new restaurants.
Cocooned in Changkat Kia Peng, this three-level bungalow, spilling over with porches and terraces surrounded by a lush garden and swimming pool, is a brilliant hideaway, still well within the city (scarcely a five-minute drive from KLCC) but with a miles-away feel.
This initial visit was for the restaurant's preview party. It'll open for business within several days; expect terrific terrines, fabulous foie gras and remarkable roast meats.

Maison Francaise's chef Franck Lamache holds impressive credentials, having honed his craft at top Michelin-starred establishments like Paris' Les Ambassadeurs and Taillevent.
Love your liver: A free flow of foie gras terrine-topped toasts makes the trip here worthwhile, even if your companion's mind seems a million miles away.
Smoked salmon and ratatouille serve as tidbits for ravenous guests ...
... plus plenty of pastry stuffed with snails and beef-tomato skewers. Rest assured, these won't be on the a la carte menu _ we've seen it, and it looks incredible.
Awesome asparagus soup, all of which vanished all too soon.
French cheeses, spectacularly stinky.
The past year or so has been excellent for fresh French outlets, from La Vie En Rose to Renoma Cafe Gallery, Bistro a Table to Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie, Topshelf to Croisette. Here's hoping Maison Francaise will prove an illustrious addition to that list.

For preview night, enough sparkling, red and white to make a river burst its banks.
Leave your mark. Bonsoir! Bon appetit! Felicitations!
We'll hear more _ much more _ about Maison Francaise in the months to come. Bet on it.
