The Dough Factory churns out brunch and bakes to bring back home, operating from its new cafe premises in Bandar Sri Damansara.
We tried ordering its highlights in the morning, but were informed later in the afternoon that most of them had run out, so we were left with two remaining possibilities - thankfully, the mushroom medley is a winner, triumphantly topped with firm, meaty mushrooms in an aromatically earthy, herbaceous pesto-and-pine-nuts ensemble on thick sourdough bread with a bite (RM26), while the squid ink pasta aglio olio is potent with spicy-garlicky flavours, prepared plain and pure with a poached egg (RM22).
Patience is currently needed to follow up on orders - we ordered at 11:30am and received our lunch delivery nearly three hours later after a couple of enquiries. Still, The Dough Factory succeeds in nailing the fundamentals, with croissants (RM6.80) and pain au chocolate (RM7.80) that remain fresh, flaky-crisp and fragrant-buttery enough for a teatime treat. Our favourite is the chocolate banana pastry, layered with ripely soft, sweet banana slices and rich, creamy chocolate, though the choc-stuffed doughnuts should also brighten up a rainy day.
