Old hands, new cafe: Mr and Mrs Okamoto make mochi, bread and buns that offer a taste of teatime treats from their homeland, from Shizuoka to Sungai Kayu Ara with love.
Fun fact: Okamoto-san is in his fifties, so contrary to the cafe’s name, he’s not that old at all. But he’s an experienced hand at preparing pastries and Japanese desserts, formerly serving The Japan Club of Kuala Lumpur.
Once dine-ins resume, customers will enjoy lingering here over Ogura toast, served warm with a golden-crisp crust and topped generously with red bean paste and butter (RM8).
Say hi to the neighbourhood cats outside while you’re here.
