Evoke Gastrobar is landlocked in The Stories of Taman Tunku, but it succeeds in channelling the culinary treasures of the sea.
Crab pasta is the pick for hearty eaters, with a heap of linguine topped with fresh, flaky crab claw meat in almond pesto sauce (RM48), while the kingfish ceviche is the choice for a lighter meal, zingy and zippy with citrus dressing and chilli oil (RM50).
But our personal favourite is the oven-roasted cuttlefish (RM48), fresh and far from rubbery, stuffed with a mix of chopped tentacles and potatoes that recalls the viscosity of viscera (specifically Japanese ika no shiokara fermented cuttlefish), rounded out with thick squid ink-dyed tomato sauce for a plate that brims with both flavours and textures.
