Tex-Mex fare at non-taxing, far-from-maximum prices: Orale strives to live up to its name (an exclamation of approval in the Spanish language) by serving up princely portions of burritos, tacos, quesadillas and nachos - all the familiar favourites that define this crowd-rousing genre.
Most of Orale’s offerings come with a choice of beef, chicken or lamb, freshly and warmly assembled to order by the kitchen crew while Spanish-language hits by Daddy Yankee and Orishas play on the speakers. Orale's forte is the sink-your-teeth-into-this value of each helping - bountiful burritos and thick tacos, with each serving more than sufficient to banish hunger pangs.
We ordered the Carne Asada Burrito (RM17; slices of grilled topside beef steak in an XXL tortilla wrap packed with guacamole, cheese, lime rice and pico de gallo), Shredded Pollo Rojo Tacos (RM5 per piece for a minimum of two tacos with shredded chicken), Pulled Lamb Barbacoa Quesadilla (RM16; crisp tortillas layered with tender lamb and guacamole crema) and Gael's Ground Chicken Nachos (RM12; blanketed with ground chicken, sweet corn, fresh tomato paste, onions and heaps of cheese). The recipes could benefit from a livelier use of spices and more pronounced seasonings for a boost of dynamics and depth, but it's impossible to complain - for a total of RM55 for the food, this was easily a feast that would satisfy four persons.
