Burnt8 is lit with sparks of imagination, injecting Asian inspirations into its creations: The restaurant’s citrus-cured salmon is coupled with fish sauce that evokes Vietnamese flavours (RM14.80 nett); spaghetti is tossed with tasty cream-based gravy that seems to pay homage to Malaysia’s mee rebus, crowned with coriander and a yolk-perfect poached egg (RM16.80); while beef short ribs, served in bite-sized, no-knife-needed slices, come braised in hoisin sauce for sweet-salty Oriental dynamics, balanced with root vegetables and mashed potatoes (RM28.80). The kitchen makes a respectable effort to offer a relatively ambitious menu, without charging too high a price. Tea is served iced (RM6.80) or subtly infused in hot chocolate (RM10.80).
