A mall outlet that's empty on a Friday night might spell trouble, but it's not S Kitchen's fault: everything from the steaks to the service & setting is satisfactory.
Bask in the calmness, nibble the welcome bread with garlic-parsley butter & support an independent restaurant that needs & deserves it.
Beefing up this entry: Wagyu oxtail soup (RM25++), thickly evocative of Mideast lentil broths, with extremely enjoyable meat falling off the bone. Call ahead to reserve this; it's not consistently available, but it rates an absolute 'A.'
The burger boasts 250 juicy grams of an NZ beef patty in a crispy-fluffy bun with crunchy veggies & fat potato wedges (RM29++). 'B+,' with no egg, cheese or sauce required.
And the steak? A chew-worthy 'B' for 300 grilled grams of the Aussie 1824 sirloin (RM82++).
The remainder of the menu comprises what most steakhouses serve: smoked salmon salads, wild mushroom soups, lamb cutlets & the like.
Gold star for the RM30++ cocktails: Aqua Thunder (Wenneker Pisang Bagoes, blue curacao, soda, lime juice) & Kyoto (dry vermouth, melon, lemon juice).
