Soft-launching on Sultan Road, the new cafe of Floccus Floccus brings a taste of classic kuih tradition merged with modern stylings in the Chinatown neighbourhood.

Floccus Floccus’ charming craftsmanship comes in steamed surprises - fish-shaped Kingu Chai Kuih, mung bean and coconut Sushi Angku and yam-stuffed Seal Mochi, paired with the citrusy Korange Soda and playful Penang-inspired Betta Fish longan drink.

Black Salt, Bukit Damansara

Semantan Suites’ new Black Salt boasts an eclectic menu, spanning house-cured Chinese char siew to French pate, cognac-fried congee to crab gnocchi.

Black Salt’s signature Char Siew is a succulent cross between BBQ pork and thick-cut bacon, with sliced mango to balance out the meat’s indulgent richness.

The Country Pate Salad showcases kitchen-crafted, rustic-textured forcemeat of pork and duck laced with pistachios and cherries, bringing a bit of Breton to Bukit Damansara, served with a salad dressed with garlic soy vinaigrette.

Tapas are available in the evening, with interesting choices like Argentinian ribeye cap topped with sea urchin, a decadent duet of land and ocean. 

The food is thoughtfully prepared, the setting is calm and cosy, while service is warm and welcoming, making Black Salt a worthwhile destination.

Sunway Mas’ new Wah Chai Village Chicken features a family legacy of making chicken rice that stretches back to 1988, evolving this year into a father-and-son collaborative kopitiam stall. Dad - returning recently out of retirement - mans a friendly, fuss-free stop for fleshy-smooth kampung chicken with fairly fragrant rice, flavoured with nostalgia for some patrons.

Fun fact: Adipati Bertiga Clubhouse took 257 days to renovate and refurbish, wire and weld together, before officially opening to the community this month.
