Coffea Coffee By Timothy @ Telawi, Bangsar

Bangsar's remarkable revitalization shows no signs of slowing: this week's Telawi newbie is Coffea Coffee, a Korean-Malaysian collaboration that takes its caffeine more seriously than most.

From what we understand, Coffea Coffee secures its beans from farms in Brazil, Guatemala, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sumatra, Colombia & Costa Rica. Its baristas roast & blend two signature creations: a full-bodied, chocolaty Maestro & a sweet-fruity Madonna.

Championship-winning Timothy heads a team of Korean-trained baristas here; service is convivial, tirelessly tackling a packed house for this outlet's friends-&-family night.

And the coffee? The Ethiopian Sidamo G2 single origin (RM9.80) is nice & strong, enough to foil potential plans for hibernation.

Maestro & Madonna lattes; both taste distinctively different, both will have their admirers.

We like to have fun with our beverages: Coffea Coffee's Peanut Butter Latte is worthwhile, as is the Belgian Cacao Triple Mocha, both RM12 each.

Watch out, KL: Coffea Coffee has ambitions of launching more outposts soon, likely in KLCC, Mid Valley & Mont Kiara.

Cakes & cookies constitute the food menu here; love the flavorful pandan gula melaka & caramel cakes (RM2.50 per small slice).

Sandwiches & bagels might be served too eventually. But though Coffea Coffee opens through 11pm, no plans for wine or other liquor are currently afoot.

Coffea Coffee has plenty of potential; it faces stiff competition on this row, especially from Antipodean & Yeast, but it has enough of a distinctive identity to carve out territory for itself.

Look out for some special touches, including walls made with recycled Javanese wood.

Thanks to Coffea Coffee for inviting & hosting us here. The outlet opens for business Dec. 13.
