Little Bourke, TTDI

With a menu that spans smashed avo to Perth-sourced coffee, it's dead-set obvious that this new cafe's inspirations come from a land down under (plus, the name Little Bourke, presumably a reference to the Melbourne street, is a clear giveaway).

That smashed avo turns out to be totally tasty after all, crowned with convincingly runny eggs, the plate sweetened up with sides of heirloom tomatoes and pomegranate (RM26), headlining a brunch selection that includes steak and eggs, pancakes with ice cream, smoothie bowls and overnight oats.

The offerings cater for appetites big and small - munch on freshly fried chicken wings that harmonise beautifully with a gochujang-and-pear dipping sauce (RM15) or nibble on baked kale chips that channel natural nuances (RM14), lusciously textured chicken liver pate (RM15) and house-baked sourdough toast with Little Bourke's buoyant own black olive jam (RM16).

The pastry team is pretty talented, so a savoury muffin, laced with roasted pumpkin and feta cheese (RM8), is worth picking out from the counter, washed down with a well-balanced hazelnut-flavoured turmeric latte (RM8) and flat white with soy milk (RM15, with beans from the Margaret River Roasting Company).

Service is warm and welcoming; bonus points for a mellow playlist that segues from Ben Harper to Brett Dennen.
