Tsukiji No. 8 @ Wisma Lim Foo Yong

True to its name, Tsukiji No. 8 serves a sweeping selection of seafood, inspired by Tokyo's most renowned fish market. Produce is offered in various tempting preparations - if you're a fan of sea urchin, you could order the Ocean's 8 (RM98), showcasing briny-sweet uni and an assortment of the ocean's bounty, laid over sushi rice in a crab shell for a striking presentation. Or for something a little less elaborate, the chef's nigiri offerings include scallops topped with sea urchin (RM55).

Other classically informed specialities range from chopped whelk with pungently salted cod entrails (RM18) to bakudan, an ensemble of reasonably fresh sashimi slices meant to be mixed with natto and chopped vegetables in a bowl (RM22) and warm, tender tamagoyaki stuffed with unagi and cheese (RM18), making for a peaceful lunch overlooking Raja Chulan Road.

The restaurant prides itself on a solid repertoire of sake by the bottle, so be sure to spare some time to raise your glass here.
