46 By Project Gibraltar @ USJ Subang Jaya

With nothing but the number '46' inscribed over it, there could've been nearly anything behind the enigmatic entrance of this Subang shop-lot - a chic perfume store, a polygamy club's headquarters, or even the passageway to an alternative universe.

Turns out, it's a desserts cafe & coffee bar whose cold, clinical look belies the welcoming warmth of its friendly founders.

The menu might not be lengthy, but it's well thought out & worth trying. Dessert pizzas are the attraction; check out the Cinnamon Cereal Crunch (RM14), an enjoyably fun ensemble comprising lots of crisp cereal flakes, strawberries, whipped cream, chocolate glaze & a dusting of cinnamon on a vanilla-flavoured base. Pair with a Flower Pot, a creamy milkshake with mellow, balanced flavours, bolstered by chocolate cookie crumbs, a shot of espresso, lavender essence & an edible flower.

No hesitation vouching for the coffee - order the off-menu Gibraltar (which explains the latter part of this place's name; 46 is the address), not too different from a latte, but served at a lower temperature - terrific for those of us who prefer our coffee warm, not hot. Fun fact: 46 founder Kevin formerly worked at Flat White, another Subang cafe. Beans here are from Seraph Awaken & Papa Palheta; the filter coffee (RM14) is lovely, but chilled French cider (RM19) is best for the current weather.

All in all, cafe lovers should sense no disturbance in the Force here. Bags by Qwstion & watches by TACS are also available for sale at 46, so you can sip & shop at the same time.
