Buns & Meat @ Lakefield, Sungai Besi

This new restaurant provides what its name promises, giving customers their daily bread & getting to the meat of the matter.

The exuberantly coloured, expertly stylish setting is fun & family-friendly, even featuring dart machines to help folks kill time.

Buns & Meat's burgers appear alluring - here's one shot that might linger in the memory, comprising the Runny Mess (RM20.90 with fries), with pork bacon & the crowning glory of a poached egg that's yearning to burst out of its blanket of melted cheese.

Burgers galore: Interesting options are offered, nearly all pork, some with patties & others with ribs, with no beef in sight.

Making the menu more distinctive, seven varieties of hot dogs are available too, all also looking lust-worthy, costing between RM14.90 & RM17.90, including fries. Toppings range from the gleeful glutton's macaroni & cheese with crispy bacon to okonomiyaki-inspired cabbage & mayonnaise to tomato salsa, nacho cheese sauce, mustard, jalapenos or baked beans.

Patrons love pork ribs, so Buns & Meat doubles down on this treat, serving not only the regular BBQ rendition (RM44.90) but also another with a gently spicy Korean-style glaze (RM42.90) that should satiate folks who like licking their lips & fingers.

If that isn't enough pork, there's also pulled pork or smoked ham pizzas (RM18.90), pastas crowned with braised pork chop (RM19.90), or fries topped with pulled pork, one of the closest things we'll get to poutine for now (RM11.90), washed down with a choice of red - watermelon juice or wine.
