G-Cova Korean Chicken @ Mont Kiara Meridin

South Korea's G-Cova chicken franchise fires its opening salvo in Malaysia, launching in Mont Kiara Meridin this month.

A Korean team spearheads this outpost, serving grilled chicken on its own or smothered in a selection of soy-based sauces - sweet & sticky, savoury & spicy (customers can choose a preferred fieriness, subdued or stinging), with a whole boiled egg & tteokbokki rice cakes. If you have a penchant for Korean flavours, you'll probably enjoy this.

Variety isn't G-Cova's virtue for now - there's the option to purchase half a chicken (RM23-RM25) or what's presumed to be a whole bird (RM45-RM48). Two of us ordered two halves & easily finished everything; the chicken seemed a bit small & bony.

Lunch platters are available. A chicken chop with rice, salad & soft drink clock in at RM20 - the closest thing here to a balanced meal. G-Cova also expects to eventually offer chicken with noodles or rice balls.

Soju is served, a suitable companion for chicken. Caveat for certain patrons: You may face a language barrier; be patient.
