Casual Italian fare forms the cornerstone of this lime-green, street-level bistro that replaced veteran restaurant Santini this month at Suria KLCC.
Limoncello seems to be run by the folks behind Pavilion's Weissbrau & Spasso Milano, an assurance that food & service standards here pass muster. Note that Limoncello's sister outlet, the more upscale Svago, will likely open upstairs sometime this month.
Wood-fire pizza ranks among Limoncello's highlights. Can't fault the Mare Di Monte (RM38.80++), a crisp-crust treat with prawns, mushrooms, tomato, mozzarella & white truffle oil.
Beef ravioli with sun-dried tomatoes (RM28.80++). The menu may not comprise surprises, but it's executed well enough for a tourist-&-shopper clientele.
Pan-seared hake with light orange sauce, rosemary potatoes & buttered veggies (RM32.80++).
Breaded chicken breast with pan-fried risotto (RM28.80++). Comfort food, fairly flavorsome.
Grilled Wagyu tenderloin (RM88++), thinly sliced but tantalizingly juicy, partnered with baked turkey pastrami & fontina cheese for extra savory-meatiness.
KLCC prices :P
ReplyDeleteWill see if Svago have better surprises for us!
Tng: heheh, the risotto is decently priced, of the lot! Looking forward to Svago, though I haven't seen the menu there yet, but I think the prices will be slightly more on the steep side =)
Deletestrange that Limoncello does not serve limoncello. Am certainly looking forward to this place. SHuld be a nice place to check out after work.
ReplyDeleteMissyblurkit: yeah, and there's no formal cocktail menu here so far either (maybe they're reserving that for Svago). But ya, overall this place has a very nice vibe. It's a wide-open space, friendly and welcoming =)
DeleteMore new places to try!!!!! :D Oh gosh, everything is changing so fast that I can hardly catch up with the places that I wanna try whenever I'm back! Though, dim sum is on the top of my list currently! :P
ReplyDeleteVien: oh yeah, it's difficult to keep up even for those who are living all year round in kl. ooh, I haven't visited many dim sum outlets this year, but I'll keep a lookout for good new ones =)
DeleteMy go to place is Grand Imperial at Hartamas Shopping Centre! Though it's packed with people on weekend mornings, it is the nearest for me! :D ohhh I do hope that they open a good dim sum place in publika!
DeleteVien: oooo I must confess I've not had dim sum at grand imperial before. There is actually a dim sum place at publika now though. It's called New Shanghai Legend, and it's in the eat village non-halal food court. Best thing is it serves dim sum all day long including at dinner time :D
DeleteGood to know there are more new restaurant in KLCC, more choices for me, hehehe. :P
ReplyDeleteCK: ya, since you enjoy Italian food also, it's nice to have another option for pastas and pizzas here :D
DeleteWho needs surprises if there's good food to be had...at somewat reasonable prices...hehe =)
ReplyDeleteUlric: heh, i like that positive perspective! i must remember to maintain that outlook too =)
Deleteyay! Loved spasso.. hope this place is up to scratch too;)
ReplyDeleteCiki: the main difference is that limoncello is a no-pork outlet since it's in klcc, but other than that, i think you might enjoy eating here =)
Deletei dont really notice there is such restaurant in Suria KLCC.. I always visit there.. at least thrice a week. :p Will look around for this place when i next visit to klcc..^^ their food is kinda pricey eh..
ReplyDeleteEunice: oh ya, this is on the outside, facing the fountain, closer to the mandarin oriental side. oh, there are some cheaper items on the menu too, sandwiches and simple pastas :D
DeleteYour review didn't sing with enthusiasm for this place...worth a visit?
ReplyDeleteYouHadYourLunch: heh, damning with faint praise, i guess. i think it's an OK italian restaurant, but it wouldn't be on my list of 20 best italian restaurants in KL. still, worth a visit if you're in the klcc area or if you like to explore every italian restaurant in town (like i do!) :D
Deletehehehe .. I like limoncello..
ReplyDeletehuh. you can't get limoncello at limoncello?
Simple Person: i like limoncello too! hopefully they'll consider serving it at limoncello someday, heheh :D
DeleteI was told Svago's new menu will be pretty good. :)
ReplyDeleteBangsar-Babe: looking forward to Svago! i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be one of KLCC's nicest restaurants :D
DeleteNo limoncello? OK, I'll go for the gelato then, LOL!
ReplyDeletePureglutton: pretty decent gelato here! very smooth, nicely creamy :D
DeleteOoh now you got me hankering for an actual limoncello! Where do I find one, if not at Limoncello itself?
ReplyDeleteMin: two outlets spring happily to mind! Spasso Milano on pavilion's sixth floor, as well as Tate, the great bar at the intermark :D
Deletebeef ravioli looks pretty good, but the wagyu i thought was a bit.. thin?
ReplyDeleteKY: ya, it's a decent beef ravioli, the sun-dried tomatoes were a nice touch. true though, the wagyu was rather thinly sliced, so it was surprising that it still turned out to be reasonably juicy =)
Deleteand do they serve any nice limoncello after dinner?
ReplyDeleteEiling: heh, so far, no limoncello on the menu here =)
DeleteI'm sorry I beg to differ. This must be the WORST restaurant I've been to in years. Most of the items on the menu can't be ordered because "the supplier didn't turn up". Orders got mixed up - my iced coffee came hot and my guest's coke-with-no-ice came iced. My spaghetti aglio olio didn't turn up and when reminded they quickly cooked and served me the wrong version - I ordered spaghetti with fish & they gave me beef salami ... precisely 3 slices, paper-thin and burnt to boot. For dessert, one of my guests ordered chocolate ice-cream and was told they had no chocolate. Another ordered pistachio ice-cream served in a waffle cone. Well, it came served in a little glass bowl with no waffle in sight. When asked, the Manager said "Oh, the waiter was supposed to tell you upfront that we don't have waffle today". Excuse me?!?! As for the pistachio ice-cream itself, the verdict of my guest - too sweet with no pistachio taste. There is absolutely no way I'm going back there again and my 3 foreign guests heartily agreed.
ReplyDeleteDreamcatcha: sorry to hear about your negative experience. while i didn't encounter the specific complaints you had, i hope they took your feedback seriously and are working to ensure that these problems won't recur.
